Pros:

Knocks out small pimples quickly
Feels clean
Eliminates oil
Keeps t-zone clear
Cheap

Cons:

Drying, but not to the point where it is painful
Doesn't foam very easily which is good since SLS is harmful to your skin anyway, but I can see how this could aggravate some people.

I needed a quick fix for my sudden t-zone acne that sprouted up with the coming of winter. I went off my hormone meds for two weeks which was a stupid mistake. I started breaking out on my forehead, nose, and inner cheek area. The Hibiclens, when used twice a day, has cleared all of this up within 3 days. No joke! It is really powerful stuff as evidenced by the dry skin I am having to deal with now, but that will subside. I would recommend cleansing and leaving this on your face for up to 5 minutes. Rinse off thoroughly and leave it at that! I know it might be tempting to put on moisturizer right afterwards, but that will cause the cleanser to lose its effectiveness. By the way, Walgreens has a generic product just like this with the same ingredients and is about 4 dollars cheaper.

Pros:

I have suffered from adult acne for around twenty-five years. I have had to use acne medicine daily to keep the acne away. Prior to going in for surgery on my neck, I started cleansing with Hibiclens. I kept on cleansing my lower face and neck with Hibiclens post-surgery because of open wounds and swollenness. After about a week, I realized that my cystic acne was gone -- without daily acne medicine. (It would always return when I stopped the acne medicine.)

If you have not had any luck with acne medicines (with sal. acid etc.), give Hibiclens a try. (Read the directions.) Good luck.

Pros:

Leaves skin feeling clean, dries out and heals existing pimples, prevents new acne

Cons:

Does not lather, not as effective for clearing blackheads

Try this product! I have only been using it for a week and have noticed dramatic results. My brother had a staph infection and used hibiclens. I saw the bottle sitting on his bathroom counter and thought hey, I bet you could use this for acne too! After I found the rave reviews, I tried it and am so glad I did! Nothing else has worked as well or as fast for me!

Pros:

Cleared my skin along with a regimen. Used a few drops in with my Neutrogena grapefruit wash then as I started to see results I started to use even more with my face wash and am pretty clear from this product. Helps to leave it on your skin for a few minutes to take full effect. Also it's known to fight bacteria for up to 6 hours after rinsed off it's used by surgeons prior to surgery to fight bacteria and infections.

Cons:

Very liquidy. It's not going to lather on it's own. I find it much more effective mixed in with my cleanser. And moisturize because it's strong and can be drying but with Murad skin perfecting lotion I find that it does not dry me out.

Got it at Walgreens for 12 bucks and it has helped clear me up to about 97% clear along with my regimen. Highly recommended if used correctly...remember to moisturize!

Pros:

Cheaper than Phisohex
Cleanses oily skin well
Easy to apply and use

Cons:

Does not rinse from skin as easily as soap

I am 67 and have suffered from adult acne since my teens. (I had the worst case the doctors had seen when a teenager.) I used Phisohex for years (you used to be able to buy it OTC for about $25/gal.) When it became unavailable by prescription a few years back, my family physician recommended Hibiclens. My facial skin is very oily, so a daily cleanse helps even now. I'm a scientist and I don't see potential for serious harm in using it. As with any medication, be alert for reactions or unusual changes in complexion.

THIS WILL NOT CAUSE BLINDNESS IF YOU GET IT IN YOUR EYES!!!! This is used for surgical scrub for patients and caregivers hands sometimes. That is why this warning is on here, not to be used in or near eyes during surgical procedures where it can pool for long periods. If you get it in your eyes: RINSE WELL. THAT IS ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

Pros:

clear skin, less oil

Cons:

none

At 27 years old, after 13 years of severe cystic acne, my skin is finally clear. I began using Hibiclens about three weeks ago and have not had a single pimple since. Normally, my chin is covered with painful, inflamed cystic acne. I use the product by wiping it on my skin with a cotton ball. I let it sit on my skin for 5-10 minutes and then wash off. While it is on my skin it does feel drying but as soon as I wash it off my skin feels amazing.

Pros:

Cleared up cystic acne, whiteheads and blackheads on face, back and chest.
Smells great.
Made skin less oily.
Brought down swelling..
Lasting results (have been using it for a month with the same good results)
Helps with ingrown hairs and rashes from shaving.
Comes in several different sizes

Cons:

Liquidy consistency
Can be drying

I actually discovered this by accident after my bf left his bottle of it by the sink and I washed m face with it because we had no other soap. Literally the next day my skin was less oily and many of the sore acne spots and cysts had either gone completely or were much less red and irritated. After a week I looked as if I never had acne in my life and I have had it for 20 long terrible years! I tried everything throughout my life to keep it in check, but absolutely nothing worked ever except this! I could cry right now because I am so thankful for this product! I also use it when I shave an area of m body because I always got terrible painful shaving rashes and ugly ingrown hairs in embarrassing places- I just use this after I shave and- No more bumps!! Try this product! I see in the reviews it does not work for everyone, but it's cheap and really worth a try!!

Pros:

is great for bacterial infections on the skin, such as really bad acne, smells good, does not overdry, don't need a prescription for it

Cons:

just make sure you don't get it in your eyes, ears or mouth...it may sting the first time you use it if you have really bad acne, but that goes away after it kills the infection and after regular use, and if you sit it on a shelf in your bathroom, make sure you put something underneath it because it will stain wood and some surfaces, especially if you try to clean it up with a product containing bleach- but comet got rid of the stain after my goof-up!!

I had very nice skin 7 months ago...I didn't even have to wear much foundation at all, but I was taking topamax to prevent stress-related migraines and unfortunately, had an adverse reaction that didn't show up until several months after I was on the medication. I started getting sores/cystic acne on my forehead, cheeks, and a bit under my neck. I had a lot of scars and redness. I am allergic to so many medications that the dermatologist basically told me that I had to take accutane or else he couldn't help me. I said no to accutane, so he tried to give me other antibiotics, but failed to recognize that I could not take them because they were in the same family as things I am allergic to. I gave up on the dermatologist and decided to take things into my own hands. I was doing research online and found this website, so I joined and started to read the reviews of different products. This one had a high rating, so I picked some up and only after a couple of days of using it, it started to smooth out my skin. I still have red spots and scars, but as for the actual acne itself, this stuff helps! It is less painful and I believe it has taken the infection out of my face. I have still got a long way to go because my acne was really bad, but there has been a definite improvement due to tapering off the medication and adding hibiclens to my regimen. It did kind of dry my skin out the first few times I used it, but I just put some lotion on at the end of my skin cleansing regimen and that solved the problem. Now it does not dry it out because my skin has adjusted to it. I took other peoples advice and got some of those cotton pads and that is what I rub on my face after I have let the hibiclens sit on it for a minute or two and that helps to exfoliate dead skin and also it will take the pus out of the middle of whiteheads without having to pick at them. Do not follow with a salicylic acid cleanser like neutrogena because it will make your skin burn!!!
