Pros:

Non-irritating, a little goes a long way, makes your skin feel refreshed, all natural healing. :)

Cons:

It made my skin feel a little tight while it was drying. Not a big deal, it goes away. When you use Aubrey Organics' you have to refrigerate it, which can be annoying when you travel.

I don't use the gel directly from the plant, but I buy Aubrey Organics Pure Aloe Vera. It comes in a 6oz bottle, which you refrigerate after opening. It is worth every penny because you don't have to use very much at all. I squirt a little on a cotton ball and gently rub all over my face at night. It didn't completely get rid of my acne by itself, I had to combine that with Aztec Healing Clay masks a few times a week. However, it speeds healing of existing acne and reduces redness. You can also mix this aloe in anything you want-- masks, creams, lotions, etc.

Pros:

We grow this in the backyard, so it is readily available (not to mention entirely natural). Also, it SIGNIFICANTLY reduces redness caused by acne medications.

Cons:

The goo gets everywhere.

I only use this when I've used a treatment that causes horrible redness and scarring. Really does work in reversing the effect. Wouldn't recommend using it for too long since for starters I would have aloe stumps instead of plants and it gets annoying having to cut up the leaf and getting the goo on your face.

Pros:

easily accesabile, softened skin, available in my garden

Cons:

made me skin very ichy, can easily make a mess (i actually got into trouble for getting this stuff on my mum's couch) and it didnt not get rid of my zits.
i also broke out badly on my forehead.

everyone is different because reading these reviews, some people seemed to have found an elixer but it was not so great for me. it softened my skin but caused me to break out so i had to quit it. its all good.

Pros:

No breakouts for a few months but scars are still there. moisturizes well.

Cons:

price

I didn't use aloe extract but I decided to write a review anyway because I've been using 99% pure aloe gel which I bought from a spa place. Also, I've been using aloe day cream and aloe night cream from The Body Shop. (fyi, on [link removed], those creams have very few toxic ingredients so that might have contributed to clear skin). Aloe works well. However the gel bottle I bought was extremely expensive, It was near $200. I've always had really horrible skin. Major breakouts, huge pimples and zits and scars that never goes away but ever since I start using aloe, my skin gradually got better. Note: you'll need patience. It takes time for nice skin. Your skin doesn't grow a new layer overnight.

Pros:

- for me, none, but if your skin doesn't react badly, it can help a lot

Cons:

- made my skin itchy and red

I really wanted to like this, due to the great reviews.. But it seems like higher percentages of Aloe Vera (>70%) irritates my skin. I wouldn't classify my skin as sensitive ("picky" would be better, hehe), so if you have sensitive skin.. Perhaps you should reconsider using this. Or, wait! Try out a small area on your skin first, to see how it reacts. And if there's no negative reaction, go ahead giiirl! Or guuuy! Anyway, I just wanted to give you a heads up! ;)

Pros:

Made the skin feel soft

Cons:

Ineffective

After suffering from acne for many years, my mother told me to just try aloe vera. I have been rubbing pure aloe vera plant every night and see no difference in my skin. My acne and scars are still there and my skin still looks the same!
