Pros:

Easy to apply, can be worn under makeup

Cons:

Skin peeling.

The product works. Since mederma fades skin, I used to Q-tip to apply the gel only to my acne scars. My skin became very dry and peeled, however, the scar underneath was significantly lighter. Side note: I'm African-American. I will continue to use Mederma.

Pros:

It works!

Cons:

You have to use it 3-4 times a day.

The only con is that you do have to put it on 3-4 times a day, but I'm not complaining, because I have been struggling with these scars for years now, & I'm greatful to finally find something that actually works! It has been absolute misery the last few years, never ever leaving the house without makeup, but now, I'm almost to the point where I don't mind it:) I haven't had many bumps in awhile, but the scars made it look like I had them everywhere! So, it was just as bad. Since I've only been using Mederma for 3 weeks, my face still isn't perfect, but at this rate, I think it will be soon. Bottom line, try it! It's not expensive, & it works!

Pros:

I have acne scars and a really uneven skin tone. mederma has taken away much of the redness and I've only been using it for a couple of weeks. Some of my acne scars are fading too. It smells really fresh and doesnt break my skin out either.

Cons:

I'm not sure if it's working on my pitted acne scars.

I can't put it on three times a day.

Buy it.

Pros:

It smells great - it's easy to put on - and if you apply it correctly, it evens out your skin tone. I've had red acne scars all over my cheeks for two years, and this stuff is making them fade away!

Cons:

If you don't rub it in until it dries, it WILL flake and make your skin unbelievably itchy. Just be patient, and be sure to apply it as much as you can throughout the day.

IT WORKS.

Pros:

I don't really have scars from acne, just red marks. It's made them less purple and more to the color red.

Cons:

I can't apply it 4x a day. It makes my skin red wherever its been after i get out of the shower.

Hmm. I can use it when I don't have a breakout and I do see a difference in a week or so. I just absolutely hate that it leaves my skin SUPER itchy

Pros:

I just want to say that the directions do say that for old scars you have to use it 3-4 times a day for 3-6 months.

Cons:

So all these people complaining that it doesn't work also say that they only have been using it for a month or so.

You have to follow the directions and not be lazy about it. Just be patient and it will work. I have a fresh scar and have been using it for about a month and see significant results already. I also started using it on an old scar and see a little bit of results already. It does itch and get a little flaky but its a temporary drawback to get rid of a big scar. I am using the Walgreens generic brand.

Pros:

It lightens the area you treat.

Cons:

Must be used three times a day. Hard to use on such a small/tiny spot when it must to be rubbed in. Made my skin peel, discolored in a sense. The fragrance is not to my liking. Rather expensive.

I've used this with mixed results. After a few days the spot being treated would flake and peel, exposing new skin but not scar fee. It would usually be lighter and off color than the surrounding area. If it wasn't rubbed in, the gel would sit on top of the skin and flake off. After researching for reviews of the product, many have found its not better than rubbing a onion on your scars, the key ingredient of Mederma. In addition, I also read that keeping the scar moist prevents dark spots which leaves me to use Neosporin instead.
