Pros:

Recommended by my derm.

Cons:

Pricey. Itches a lot, dry skin.

Question for those who were able to successfully use this product to reduce scars: After I rub it in, my skin becomes really dry and itchy. So would applying lotion after using mederma reduce its effectiveness? If you experienced this problem in the beginning, how did you deal with it/ does the itching/ dryness subside after some use?

Pros:

works well on non-face scarring, easy to dry and fall off

Cons:

made scars on face redder, have to apply right on spot or it will peal other areas of skin

wasn't satisfied with use on face. tended to make areas redder than what it originally looked like.

Pros:

It lightens the area you treat.

Cons:

Must be used three times a day. Hard to use on such a small/tiny spot when it must to be rubbed in. Made my skin peel, discolored in a sense. The fragrance is not to my liking. Rather expensive.

I've used this with mixed results. After a few days the spot being treated would flake and peel, exposing new skin but not scar fee. It would usually be lighter and off color than the surrounding area. If it wasn't rubbed in, the gel would sit on top of the skin and flake off. After researching for reviews of the product, many have found its not better than rubbing a onion on your scars, the key ingredient of Mederma. In addition, I also read that keeping the scar moist prevents dark spots which leaves me to use Neosporin instead.

Pros:

I have acne scars and a really uneven skin tone. mederma has taken away much of the redness and I've only been using it for a couple of weeks. Some of my acne scars are fading too. It smells really fresh and doesnt break my skin out either.

Cons:

I'm not sure if it's working on my pitted acne scars.

I can't put it on three times a day.

Buy it.

Pros:

I enjoyed the fragrance, very floral. It helped get rid of old and new scars on my face only a little bit. It dosen't make my face break out.

Cons:

Texture is harsh especially when it dries, i might be putting to much on. Dosen't improve the surface texture of my skin. Much to expensive for such a little tube.

It'll work if you have slight scars. It seems to take awhile to see full effects.

Pros:

First Day with the product, will keep you updated with the results

Cons:

Slight Odor
Not much of a burning or itching sensation if you rub it in for about 30-60sec

First Day with the product, will keep you updated with the results I have semi deep scars and ice pick scars on my face less than a year old. I will update on how things go. From most of the testimony this product is a miracle, but i will have to see in order to believe

Pros:

I just want to say that the directions do say that for old scars you have to use it 3-4 times a day for 3-6 months.

Cons:

So all these people complaining that it doesn't work also say that they only have been using it for a month or so.

You have to follow the directions and not be lazy about it. Just be patient and it will work. I have a fresh scar and have been using it for about a month and see significant results already. I also started using it on an old scar and see a little bit of results already. It does itch and get a little flaky but its a temporary drawback to get rid of a big scar. I am using the Walgreens generic brand.
