Pros:

Absolutely works
eliminates breakouts
totally removed redness/PIH
Soft skin

Cons:

Initially it is a bit drying, so I purchased their moisturizer which proved to be the magic ingredient for me!

I started using this in 2002 and haven't looked back. At first it did dry my skin out, as other reviewers have stated. When I noticed this drying, I researched and found out I should also moisturize, which I never did before (mainly because I had very, very oil skin and figured it would add even more oil.) However, once I started using the moisturizer it was fantastic! Also, if it is too drying at first, do not wash or scrub very hard when using the face wash. It does have some little exfoliating beads, so be very gentle if you feel it is too much. In time, your face will adjust to it. I also realized the importance of moisturizer. If you have really oil skin it is actually very important to moisturize because sometimes oily skin can be due to dry skin which then sends the sebaceous glands into overdrive which then causes oily, oily skin. Using a moisturizer helps the skin to regulate a little better, but it will not happen over night. Trust me I know all about oily skin as I used to buy the oil blotting sheets in BULK!!! But eventually, the oil on my skin leveled out. It is still oily, but not nearly as much and when it does, I still use the oil blotting sheets, just not as much. I cannot praise this product enough!! Excellent--but you have to give it a little bit of time...at least a month, and for some with moderate to severe acne probably 3 months. Since I only use a small amount, it lasts me more than 60 days. Also, another tip: I know some people will buy it and just use the cleanser and repairing lotion, but not the toner. (because they think the toner is "useless.") This is NOT the case, you NEED to use them all together. The toner is effective as it works WITH the system. My sister went that route (did not use the toner) and her skin would not clear up the way it should and it really dried out. I told her and told her, and finally she used it and incorporated a moisturizer and she had great results!! This is my 10th YEAR using proact

Pros:

Effective
Minimal irritation

Cons:

Poor customer service--can be inconvenient to cancel or buy less frequently
Time-consuming routine, since there are 3 parts

I've had acne-prone skin for 10 years. It started when I was 12, and I'm now 22. I now use proactive and spironolactone. I've tried each on its own, but I have to use both together to get great results. I have moderate acne when I'm not using those products, and basically no acne when I'm using both. I started using Proactive three years ago. I had been on spironolactone for several months when I started proactive, but I still had acne. Proactive cleared my skin quickly with little irritation. I've tried to switch to other products twice to save money and time. Both times my acne returned, and I decided it was worth the trouble. Here's some more info about me, so you can decide how relevant this review is to you: Combination/oily skin Breakouts coincide with monthly cycle Medium skin sensitivity Have also tried: antibiotics, retinoids, clinique 3-piece system, oxy brand products, prescription benzoyl peroxide products. The antibiotics worked fairly well, but I built a resistance over time. The rest helped some, but not enough. Acne type: Papules, whiteheads, occasional cysts, on forehead and chin especially Severity: Has varied from moderately severe to light while using other products. When using proactive and spiro together, my skin is clear. Other helpful stuff: Exercising (reduces stress and gets blood flow to your face), cutting nails super short (keeps you from picking), staying hydrated, keeping your pillow case and makeup brushes clean

Pros:

Works well.

Cons:

Too pricey!

Used Proactive successfully for YEARS. Found that Walmart's Equate brand Acne Treatment System contains EXACTLY the same ingredients. After approximately 5 months of using the Equate product, there is absolutely no difference in the results I experienced all those years using Proactive. The 3-piece Equate kit costs $11.97 plus tax - almost a 30% savings. AND, you can purchase each piece of the 3-piece system separately, when YOU need it, for $4.12 each. Really? No brainer for me.

Cons:

My already moderate acne became so inflamed, so severe.... people thought I had hives.

I used Proactiv years ago not long after it came out. I don't remember exactly how long it took my skin to get worse but my skin NEVER improved. My mom called customer service (I was in high school at this time) and they urged her to encourage me to stay the course saying that many people don't see results for several months. I stayed the course for over FOUR MONTHS and there was never a hint that my skin would get better. It made my acne go from moderate to SEVERE. People didn't think I had acne, they thought I had hives or some allergic reaction. My face was covered in red inflamed bumps and pustules. Every time I see commercials for this product, my blood pressure raises just a little bit. I don't understand why it's still around. I don't remember how much it cost back then so I made an estimate for a monthly supply. I seem to recall it being somewhat pricey.

Pros:

Did great at first

Cons:

Burns!
Red and Irritated Skin.
Dry Skin.
Takes to much time.
Made me feel oily and dirty.
Price
Company seems needy and greedy

Proactiv was great the first few weeks. Family knew a few people, who use and liked it. Sadly it didn't work on mine. And it is way over priced. We canceled our subscription and they won't leave us alone! Telling us we need to renew. hehe...no

Pros:

Controls 'average' acne
Brings acne to their 'heads' quicker
Seemed to reduce the size of my pimples
My skin is crazy soft
Wide range of follow up products
Handy sized bottles

Cons:

It's given me embarrassingly oily skin
I'm sick of the smell
It dries out my hands and face
It makes my skin "tight, shiny and red" after cleansing.

I tried ALOT of over the counter products like many other people here, and they did barely anything for me, and I did not want to go on a medication so I decided to try acne.org products. Unfortunately the only product from that regimen that is still handy to me is the cleanser, I love it. Once I had accepted that acne.org was not working for me ( I really thought "this is the one") I turned to Proactiv. Seconds into using the cleanser (first step) I could feel my skin getting so soft and smooth, and it got me so excited. After a few uses, my pimples were smaller dots and my acne was more controlled. After a few months, I've noticed that it prevents new pimples up until my "time of the month stages" (I believe I have hormonal acne).I only have a couple "clear skin" weeks until my hormones do their thing (and I get pimples), and proactiv doesn't seem to be able to control that much. But I have confidence that it's fighting for me all month round. It also gives me incredibly shiny oily skin, even if i don't moisturise my skin will look like I had just put massage oil on my face. So right now I'm trying to control that with a moisturiser, and blotting sheets but I hate how they make my skin feel. Bottom Line: If you've tried everything, and still not satisfied with acne.org, do give it a go, Proactiv has worked the best for me out of all the other products I've been through.

Pros:

Really clears up the acne!

Cons:

May dry out your face.

Okay, so I've always wanted to try it since it was on TV but my mom always said that it's fake and crappy. One day, her friend recommended it to me. It dries your face out first, but that stops! ;) Oh and after a while you can use a little more step 3. And DO NOT apply the refining mask to your eyelids/ under your eyes!!! Oh, and only use the mask twice a week since it really dries skin. Well, I've been using it for 60 day and I'm almost clear!! You GOTTA give it TIME! Trust meee:D Sorry that this is so long, but it seems like my face is totally clear. You cannot see any acne on it! Before proactiv i thought a clear face would make my life soo much better, but once youre clear, the only thing is that your not embarrassed and you ARE prettier. But its not like exciting. trust me. Acne or not, light or severe: You. Are. Beautiful. !! Trust me:) Anyways, give it a try. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!! :)

IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SKIN TYPES: 1. Asian 2. Mediterranean 3. African 4. Latino OR if you are bi or multiracial.. PLEASE do not use Proactive. I have Mediterranean skin, which means I also have dry, sensitive skin. People with any of these skin types can't handle ANY of the benzoyl peroxide treatments. Proactive's treatments are not made for sensitive skin types. My acne was very light and I started to use Proactive mainly for longterm affects and I wanted clear skin in the future. I read a lot of reviews that said positive and negative things about this product, however, I, of course, was stubborn and had to at least try it. My rule is that I have to try something for at least six weeks in order to completely reject it. And that's what I did. My acne cleared up completely within the first week of use, however I would wake up some mornings, and my face would be so red and irritated that I would have to moisturize it every half hour. By the second week, my skin got used to the treatments and it looked as I would finally be clear of acne. I was so wrong. The next four weeks, my skin broke out more than it ever had in my life. Not only was I breaking out terribly, but the acne was leaving hyper pigmentation behind as well. I regret 100% using Proactive. My skin is awful now, and is impossible to keep under control. I have used all natural remedies, gentle cleansers, everything, to nurse it back to health, but nothing has worked. I've also been to the dermatologist and have been informed that I may have to start Accutane. Before Proactive, I would have never even been close to qualifying as a candidate for Accutane. I have hyper pigmentation marks all over my face, it's the most frustrating thing to look at. I did a lot of research before starting Proactive, but I wish I had done a lot more so I could have prevented this. I have now wasted so much time and money on acne treatments, it's ridiculous. PLEASE
