Pros:

Treats acne to certain extent

Cons:

Can be harsh on skin. Does an OK job of preventing breakouts. Should be less expensive.

Not as effective as claimed. Do your own research -- there are other products (including retin-a, etc.) that are much, much better.

Pros:

Can clear face of acne.

Cons:

Expensive, must use it everyday, will dry skin without moisturizer, bleaches colored cloth( dry face only with white towels), irritates skin.

Bottom line is it works but not immediately, acne starts forming under your skin a week or two before it's actually visible so proactive prevents the formation of acne, plus, your skin needs to get used to the harshness of the benzoyl peroxide in the cleanser. If you use all 3 steps correctly than, overtime, it should work very well. I have been using it for 8 months and I my skin is clear, what more could you ask from a face wash?

Pros:

Refining mask is ok as spot treatment.

Cons:

Expensive, terrible customer service. Terrible!!!!!
Drys out skin, bleaches towels an clothes and eyebrows and hairline.
Makes acne much much worse!

If you have acne I really hope you do not bother with this terrible product. I think the women who put this product out should go to jail for a while for scamming desperate innocent people who are suffering from painful embarrassing acne. My acne is almost gone now an this is what I did. Keep in mind everyone is different. I use a Clairisonic brush and Boscia clearing face wash. That brush is sooo worth the money. I also use Peter Thomas Roth spot and area treatment. It is fantastic. If the Clairisonic is too much than try the Clairisonic Mia. It is less expensive. I also eat healthy and drink water and keep my skin hydrated. If you have acne you have to keep your skin hydrated. I use Clinique oil free Moisturizing gel. Don't bother with Proactive. The ingredients are terrible for your skin and are PROVEN to make acne worse. If you can, go to a "real" dermatologist. Good luck!!

Pros:

Works pretty well for me.

Cons:

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have ever experienced. I am supposed to receive a regular shipment of the product. On 12/15 I realized that I was overdue, so I called. They said that they should have sent a shipment on 12/1. But because they were out of the product, they just didn't send it. I had received no notification. When I asked if they could ship me an alternate product with speed, since I was out of the product, they said it would ship within 48 hours and at a standard shipping rate.

I am going to be looking for another solution.

Pros:

Tea Tree moisturizer & Repairing Treatment were great!
Mask was good too.

Cons:

Face wash was more of a scrub, not a wash.
Wash also stained my towels.
Thought the toner was pointless.

I am 35 years old & my acne is mainly due to medications I'm taking (increases the hormones in the body) & I've tried dozens of products & Proactiv was finally the ONLY thing that helped clear my skin. The face wash would have been much better if they had made it a normal wash instead of the exfoliating one they have which was sometimes a bit too much for everyday, especially if you have an irritated pimple, etc... There really isn't anything "gentle" about it. The toner I thought was pointless so I didn't even bother. Think I tried it twice. The repairing treatment was pretty good in helping my pimples go away, I used it a few times a day.... THAT is what is needed. I think the treatment lotion is pretty decent & I bought a few bottles at a time (got a good price) I agree with a few other people that after a while the wash seemed to stop working.... but then again the face washes really aren't supposed to BE the ones that take care of the pimples... isn't that the acne creams job??? LOL Anyway, I still have my Repairing lotion & my mask that I still use. I also have a facial scrub (actual one.. St. Ives) that I use once in a while. Overall I think Proactiv is an ok product but I think its given way too much hype. Benzoyl Peroxide is what clears skin (Salicylic Acid never really worked for me, never powerful enough) & if you find it (BP) in ANY decent product then you will succeed with nicer skin. :) Recommended?? Maybe only certain products..

Pros:

works for a few weeks

Cons:

after 3 days of using proavtiv, I saw a huge improvement. However, from then on, my skin never got any better, or any worse. I realized that after 1 month of no improvement that proactiv was just a waste of my time.

DO NO WASTE YOUR TIME

Pros:

Prevents breakouts, somewhat clears acne scar.

Cons:

Really dries the skin

I noticed that i have a lot less breakouts since I used it. I highly recommend a type of moisturizer because it's really dry.

Pros:

* comes with a refining mask that works on SOME acne issues

Cons:

*drys skin
*costs too much
*smells bad
*Too many steps
*doesnt work
*made acne worse
*continues to send you refills/ charge you more when you didnt want to

IT JUST SUCKS I used proactive for three months and expected there to be a drastic change someday because of the way they advertise on the commercials. Proactive made my skin so much worse, dried it out, and my face was soon covered in acne scars/marks. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT

Pros:

- Skin feels clean.
- No irritation.

Cons:

- Results don't show fast.
- May not even work at all.
- More steps than most other products.

Ive tried pro-active two times. Both different ages and both different skin stages in my life. I first tried it when I was 17 when I had severe acne. It did not work at all and after using the entire bottle I did not see one improvement whatsoever. Now, I am 21. My acne is very unpredictable when it comes to breakouts. It has been a very bumpy road, and right now is one of the more difficult times. I decided to try pro-active again. It still does not work at all even after going through the entire process for 45 days. I am very disappointed and now am on doctor prescribed antibiotics and topical products. Note: When I was 17 I payed the original TV price. But the second time a few boxes were given to me for free by another unsatisfied customer.
