Pros:

Quick results, refreshing, quick and easy application

Cons:

drys out skin, strong scent, harsh, bleaches towels

Proactiv really did work for me. My skin was as bad as its ever been. I have never had bad acne but at the beginning of college I became stressed and I broke out. So I tired the 30 day treatment and my skin cleared up significantly. BUT, it dried my skin out. My skin is never dry and never oily. I became really dry and it did not look good. If your acne isn't too bad and you just want to clear it up just use it once a day and t will work. Thats was I did after 3 about weeks. If your skin is dry already, get a lightweight facial lotion. It does work, you just have to adapt it to your skin.

Pros:

Cleared my skin perfectly.

Cons:

Bottles are small. Have to upgrade to the bigger bottles, the small go quick

Ive tried everything, proactiv is the only thing that's has ever worked for me. After a awhile skin will get a little dry. Use their moisturizer, it's great. Then if you over due it and your skin gets oily, use the oil control. I love it, I stopped for awhile and my acne came back. Now I use it once a day, and the extras and I'm back to clear skin. Really does work

Pros:

- left my skin smooth
- my complexion wasn't that perfect yet but I could see positive results within that first week
- did not smell awful like other users seem to complain about (I've smelled worse)

Cons:

- didn't completely get rid of my acne scars
- if I stop using it & try other brands my skin will break out profusely
- my skin still remains oily

Every individual is different. I keep hearing negative reviews about this product but fortunately it works for me. So even if this product might not work for that person it could work wonders for you. You won't know it until you try. Trying out facial products is all about trial & error. If it doesn't work then move on to the next. This might sound tedious but be patient. There are far worse scenarios out there, yours is just finding the right acne product. Good luck!

Pros:

Does help clear acne

Cons:

Do not use if you have sensitive skin as it will make it flakey and dry

Initially can dry out your skin

Bleaches my pillows and towels

I have had acne problems since I was about 13. I am now 24 and still fighting acne. I had used nearly every steamlined acne fighting cleansers, etc and nothing worked. I began using Proactiv when I was 18 and it worked really well. My skin has never been completely clear, but this was the clearest it had ever been. After using it for about 2 years I decided I might not need to use such a 'harsh' product to fight (what I hoped) teenage acne. Big mistake. I began using an expensive Clinque 3-step regime and after about 3 months my acne returned worse than ever. As anyone with acne knows, this was a horrible time for me and I went on acne medication and back on Proactiv to try and clear it up. I was not sure what helped - the medication or Proactive - but in a couple of months my skin was relatively clear again. Stupidly enough about 7 months ago I stopped using Proactiv again after people told me how harsh it was for your skin. So I tried Dermalogica. Not to bag out Dermologica because I think their products work really well for a lot of people, but not for me. My acne came back quite severly. I wanted to give the Dermalogica a good run before returning to Proactiv, but after 6 months of no change I have now recently started back on Proactiv and can see results after 3 weeks. Bottom line is - everyones skin is different. I now know that my skin is extremely acne prone and Proactiv works for me so I will continue using it. It is a harsh product so if you do have sensitive skin then try something else. Tips - only use the repairing lotion at night and use a mild moisturisor in the day. No need to get ALL the Proactiv products - waste of money. Just as long as you have the essentials and then use a moisturisor that works for you. Don't 'scrub' your face with the cleanser - just gently cleanse and only for about a minute. Use the mask as a stop treatment overnight - it will draw out the existing pimple quickly.

Pros:

- Reduces acne/oil
- Softens skin
- Relatively quick

Cons:

- Can burn
- Can overdry the skin
- Expensive in relation to its size

I have had severe hormonal/stress-based acne on and off since the 7th grade. I have tried absolutely everything (Accutaine, prescription creams, microdermabrasion, etc.) and nothing seemed to work longterm, or if it did it was far too expensive for my tight budget to continue doing regularly which only led me to have to stop the treatment and break out all over again. I am now 23 and still facing the problem of annoying and relatively severe acne and, being a broke recent college grad, was searching for a budget-friendly solution. I figured I had nothing to lose and gave Proactiv a try. Surprisingly, Proactiv seems to be the solution to clear up my skin. Yes, it is a bit expensive for the amount they give you, but a very little bit goes a very long way. I saw results within a couple of days. With continued use it keeps my skin soft, my acne under control, and my face far less oily. As with any product it depends on the individual, but I have found this to work for me and am willing to pay the $19.99/mo for clear skin. The lotion can leave skin dry, especially in the harsh Iowa winters, so I try to only use it at night and use a normal moisturizer during the day (I use Olay Total Effects). The cleanser slaughs on any dry skin that happened to accumulate overnight and pairing it with a different moisturizer in the morning has not hindered its results for me.

Pros:

May clear up your skin
Easy to order
Kit is all you need

Cons:

Expensive
May stop working over time

I started using this in my early 20's. After using accutane as a teen, my acne had resurfaced and was as bad as ever. At the recommendation of a friend I tried this stuff and loved it! It completely cleared up my skin....for 2 years. Then it all came back. Story of my life : ) Be wary of the company if you try these products. They sign you up for a month to month plan automatically. You can opt out of it if you call them though.

Pros:

I love the mask! Makes my face feel great! The green tea helps too for the burning effect.

Cons:

Burning / redness with steps 2 & 3

So the product is a little harsh on my face... No big deal. Right now my acne has found its way to my chest & back. I am someone who had such severe acne as a teenager that my dermatologist put me on acutain to save my skin! Now as an adult my acne is minor on my face so I just use step 1 and the refining mask on the chin area for the small zits. But I use the full product on my chest & back and on day 3 am seeing AWESOME results. If you are looking for a product that isn't too harsh on your back or chest then I highly recommend proactive! Please keep in mind that yes, this is a 3 step system but if side affects come along... You can adjust your frequency or what steps you end up using and where. Like my dermatologist says, " you only need to treat the areas with the most acne" so don't make your whole face suffer if only little areas are needing to be treated. If you do this right... You will be happy with the results! Also, for those of you who don't want the hassle of shipping... Find a kiosk or proactive machine at your local mall. They won't ask you for a subscription you just go buy it when you need it. You also won't have to buy in a package but separate if you only want one thing.

Pros:

The refining is amazing! The steps are really good! I love it

Cons:

Burns my skin
Step number 3 didn't go well with my skin

I loved pro active everything was beautiful it left my skin nice and soft! My blemishes went away after using the refining moisturizer. The only thing I didn't like about it was step #3 did not go well with my skin. Step #3 just left my skin even redder and full of blemishes I looked like a tomato but now I'm using the moisturizer steps 1 and 2 and my acne is clearing up!

Pros:

Can clear face of acne.

Cons:

Expensive, must use it everyday, will dry skin without moisturizer, bleaches colored cloth( dry face only with white towels), irritates skin.

Bottom line is it works but not immediately, acne starts forming under your skin a week or two before it's actually visible so proactive prevents the formation of acne, plus, your skin needs to get used to the harshness of the benzoyl peroxide in the cleanser. If you use all 3 steps correctly than, overtime, it should work very well. I have been using it for 8 months and I my skin is clear, what more could you ask from a face wash?
