Pros:

NONE!!!!!!

Cons:

SHADY! Secret Charges! Deceptive!

When you check out, they let you know you will get charged every month. What this leads you to believe: I will get products every month for which I will pay a monthly charge. Reality: You will get products one month for which you will be paying for the next three months for upwards of $100. They also included "gifts" or "extras" with my purchase that I never asked for that they are now charging me for. Be careful! Total scam. Not worth it AT ALL.

Pros:

For anyone who has purchased this item before reading the reviews, like me- I'm going to give you a little hope. My experience with proactiv has been great so far. Like many say, the first week or so- it's hard to tell a difference, as it seems to make it worse. But I've been using it for a few weeks, now, and it has cleared up almost all of my blackheads, reduced the size of my pores, softened the look and feel of my skin and has definitely cured my pimples.

Cons:

Be careful to not use any of the products around your eyes, as it REALLY dried out my under eyes. I'm no dermatologist, but depending on the severity of your breakouts, I'd try to find a way to use it that works for you. I listen to my skin and skip certain steps when it seems necessary. For instance, I'll skip the repairing lotion and use the green tea moisturizer when my face is drying out. It doesn't make a difference with my skin, when I do this.

I haven't yet dealt with the billing issues, yet. Although, I was fully aware of the automatic billing stuff, beforehand- so it wasn't a big surprise to me. But, I would be cautious of that if it's something you cannot handle, financially. Overall, the product is satisfactory!

Pros:

- cleared excessive acne on my face
- started to show results within a week, after initial use
- help to dull the redness on my cheeks

Cons:

- used it for 6 years and it didn't completely get rid of my acne
- after awhile, it started to stop working, acne started to reappear, but not as severe
- it felt like my skin relied on proactiv (as if it was a drug), when I did not use it for a couple of days, my acne would come back worst then the initial start
- created a lot of scars on my face
- very expensive

proactiv works to reduce the severity of my acne, but it is clearly not a LONG TERM FIX! My acne never went away. I finally stopped using proactiv and my acne is coming back a lot worse then when I started the proactiv treatment. Those 6 years felt like a temporary fix to repress my acne and now it is finally showing itself.

Pros:

it works pretty well

Cons:

Be very careful when you order on line! It says it costs 29 dollars on the front page, but it actually will cost you $90.Fine print on second page tells you they will be sending 2 more $29 shipments No way to order it off the web any different.Have to send it back to get your money back. Rip Off!!

If the system costs $90 dollars it should say that in big letters on the FRONT page instead of zapping 2 more 30 dollar payments out of my account! Especially since i called them and told them to stop!!!

Pros:

Advanced blemish treatment somewhat improved spots
Green Tea Moisture was a nice balance
I received a first time user discount

Cons:

My face is dry and flaky
Bleached clothes, towels and sheets
Hasn't cleared up my acne
Expensive

I have two additional kits unopened since I was suckered into signing up for a monthly subscription to save money since its so expensive. When I called to cancel they told me to try theory gentle formula which still doesn't work. I am canceling it and will never get the money back I wasted on their product or the money for the items it ruined such as clothes, towels and sheets. The bleaching is so bad I'm embarrassed to stay at other peoples houses knowing I will ruin their stuff as well. It's sad that the two products I like are an additional fee from the three step kit. As a mid 20 year old I'm hopeful to find something that actually works!

Pros:

none

Cons:

Expensive. Doesn't work. Bleaches towels and pillowcases. It seems to be impossible to get off their mailing list even if you make numerous calls to customer service asking to be removed.

Used Proactiv for 2 years and was not acne free the entire time. If you want to control acne, go to your docter .S/he can prescribe something that actually works.

Pros:

- all 3 products; cleanser, toner, moisturizer had very mild, pleasant fragrances
- the BP lotion has a very smooth consistency

Cons:

- the proportion of the BP lotion to the cleanser and toner is much too small; the quantity of the cleanser and toner are both twice as much as the lotion
- pricey
- excessive packaging = a lot of waste: despite the small quantity of actual skin care product, the containers are pretty big; every 2 month supply kit comes with a plastic extrusion to hold all the bottles in place, and a copy of their product catalog

I've been using Proactiv for about 4 years. I have moderate acne (a couple cystic ones every month or so, a good handful of your typical whiteheads all the time) and combination-type skin. It took about 3 months for me to see results, and for a good while, I was pretty satisfied with the results. I still had a break-out from time to time, but it definitely stopped the cystic acne. During the last year of use though, for some reason (perhaps stress), my acne worsened, and I was almost back to pre-Proactiv use. After struggling for a few months, I decided to stop using the Proactiv system and I ordered Dan's BP, and bought a mild cleanser and moisturizer from the drug store. Since then, my acne has cleared up significantly, and overall, my skin tone is more even. Proactiv seems to be pretty variable. Some people have lots of success with it, and others don't, and the success also seems to variable with respect to time. If you want to give it a try, give it at least a couple months, and be liberal with the lotion (even though they give you a disproportionately small amount). I find the toner to be completely useless; I spent a few months not using it, and no changes. The cleanser is an exfoliant. If you're washing your face with this two times a day and you have drier, more sensitive skin, this will probably be too much of an irritant. The BP is excellent, very light and with minimal fragrance, but the quantity is quite small. So what's the bottom line? For me, I found it to be too expensive for the results I was getting. Dan's BP is the same concentration as the treatment lotion provided in the Proactiv kit, and is cheaper. The BP products across both systems are very comparable. For my skin type, I found the cleanser to be overly irritating, and the toner didn't have an effect either way. For a BP treatment regimen, I wouldn't recommend Proactiv.

Pros:

It improved my oiliness substantially I think. But overall acne reduction was pretty modest.

Cons:

Didn't clear me up fully. Expected a bit more from it.

I think it's an OK product but not necessarily the solution to moderate and worse acne.
