Pros:

Reduced inflammation from existing acne, more even-toned complexion, visible reduction in pore size

Cons:

Makes your skin tight and dry if you overdo it

Personally, this product worked from the very 1st time I washed my face. Immediately smoother skin was revealed from the exfoliant beads in the cleanser. 1/2 hour after I washed my skin, the swelling of 2 cysts had gone down significantly...enough to where I could cover them up without them hurting. Yay! The toner feels soothing & the repairing lotion is great IF you use a very small amount. I'm talking tiny...barely enough to leave a thin film. The only problem I had with the system is the drying and tight feeling. That's easily remedied by cutting down your cleansing time & applying less pressure when washing (but don't wash for any less than a minute!) I'm serious. Something about cutting down the wash time too much makes this product ineffective.. I find that using small, gentle, circular motions work best. I recommend avoiding the Oil Free Moisture with SPF 15 if skin is cracked or dry as it tends to sting...OUCH! Otherwise, it's a great addition to the kit!

Harsh, bleachy, and drying. I'm convinced now that it made my acne worse.

I used this product from the time that I was 13 to 23 years old because I started to have pretty bad acne and my mom had me start using it. I stayed with it for a long time because I believed that if I stopped using it my skin would get worse. Finally a few years ago someone convinced me to try more gentle products. First I switched to Aveeno and things got a lot better, then I switched to Burts Bees and I'm amazed to find out that I now have clear skin. Like magic. I'm aware that everyone's skin is different. My skin is sensitive and a little on the dry side. If you aren't getting anywhere with products with Benzoil Perozide then I strongly recommend trying something more natural because it's probably irritating your skin. The BP and bleach in Proactive is harmful and not worth it. My sister still uses it and she has terrible acne but I'm convinced that if she just tries something more nourishing and less drying she'll be a lot clearer. I think I almost have her

Pros:

Rather inexpensive compared to other treatments for acne.
Don't need a prescription.

Cons:

Benzol Peroxide (Proactiv's active ingredient) is extremely harsh and irritating.

Not recommended. I had moderate acne only along my jawline. Not only did Proactiv fail to clear it up, but caused smaller red pimples all over my face, much like a rash.

Pros:

Cons:

Dried out and irritated my face!!!!! Ruined my skin was ruined and made it worse!!!!!!

This product is the worst product i've EVER tried!!!!! Proactiv has benzoyl peroxide which dries and irritates the skin!!!!!!! My skin started to peel and look gross!

Pros:

It works if you do it regularly.

Cons:

Miss using it a couple of times, your acne comes back worse. Have to order from away.

If you are someone who is able to clean your face twice a day, and keep to a routine, then this is the product for you. If you have a funny schedule and sometimes miss a day of cleaning, you're bound to wake up with big boils. Also, I didn't like that you were not able to get it locally.

Pros:

Worked nicely to clear up my skin in my early 20's

Cons:

Doesn't work on my skin in my early 30's.

It's worth a shot since it's not too expensive. It really did work quite well for me 10 years ago, but not so much these days.

Pros:

Non irritating. Does not Dry Out Skin. Skin cleared up in less than 2 weeks.

Cons:

I wish the bottles were screw on and off lids with flip tops, so you could easily refill travel size bottles for trips.

This is a great product! I have tried everything imaginable for my acne from prescription products to over the counter and this is by far the BEST. I am keeping my fingers crossed my acne does not become immune to Proactive as it always does with other products. I would recommend this product to anyone suffering from light - severe acne. I would have purchased it months ago, but did not like the fact you had to purchase via television or mail and they automatically signed you up to receive more, automatically taking money out of your bank account. I buy mine in the mall.

Pros:

less acne in 1-2 weeks,but not 100% clear.

Cons:

becomes ineffective after a year.
really dries up skin in the first few months and then your skin kind of become too oily after that.

I think proactive is very effective IF you're using it for the first time,but it will be less effective after some time and you need to change to something else.

Pros:

it controlled my pimples, but never really did anything other than that.

Cons:

didn't really work overall
can stain clothes

Proactiv works for different people. Apparently it only helps the pimples on top of the skin (or was it underneath?) anyhow, it only controlled my pimples but it didn't work overall.
