Pros:

I think the refining mask is the only thing I like about Proativ.

Cons:

Everything else I hate. It made me break out in little bumps all over my face. My face is now oily and red all the time. It made my blemishes I already had worse. I hate this product!!

I will never use it again. Does anyone know of a product that does work?

Pros:

Clears up acne fast, leaves face feeling fresh and clean

Cons:

none!

You have to use Proactiv twice a day every single day or you're not going to get any results. If you have stubborn acne like i did you should switch to the extra strength. if you're experiencing dry skin you need to use a little bit more of the 3rd step, or buy one of their moisturizers. The bottles all say that it takes up to 6 months to achieve full results, and they never said that a pimple or two won't pop up once in a while. a dab of the refining mask is great for getting rid of pimples over night! I LOVE THIS STUFF! I once felt very ugly and now i feel and look gorgeous. my face is smooth, and for the first time in my life i have natural, rosy cheeks. THANKS PROACTIV!

Pros:

Consistent results, leaves skin feeling smooth, doesn't dry my skin.

Cons:

Takes your skin a while to adjust when you first begin using the product. You have to give it a fair chance and use diligently.

I started using Proactiv over a year ago. As recommended by the manufacturer I started by using it only once a day to acclimate my skin to it and prevent over drying. After a few weeks I went up to twice a day. It took a few weeks for my skin to adjust to the product but now I love it and wouldn't go without it. In my opinion the majority of the negative reviews are probably from people who started using it too often, or didn't use it long enough to give it a chance.

Pros:

it leaves you with a healthy glow

Cons:

it leaves your skin dry and red when you first use it.

it is a good product that can make a big difference in how your skin looks and feels. you just ahve to stick with it. if after a month you dont see results you like then you should top using it and know that it is not for everyone. it's worth a try, worst case no results best case clear skin!!

Pros:

Effective only for a short period of time. Seems to be gentle for the most part. Great as a preventative. Great for those who really need help with their skin.

Cons:

Makes skin worse after stopping usage. Can make skin red. Skin can become dependant on the benzoyl peroxide as it works to kill the bacteria.

Please, please only try if you don't have sensetive skin and are truly desperate. I made the mistake of trying it out of insecurity and vanity pimples. My skin loved it at first and I was clearer than I had ever been. After long term usage it stopped working as well. When I tried to use more gentle products, my skin errupted and it has taken me years to get it back to the basics. Proactive isn't a bad line, but benzoyl peroxide can be addictive for your skin. It is truly a great product though if you really suffer from acne. Just think about it and remember the best way is gentle! I have been struggling with acne for about 7 years and have realized this finaly.

Pros:

I'm 30 yrs. and a year after having my 3rd baby my skin went crazy with acne. I tryed only proactive so far and have been using it for about 5 months. I used ivory soap for years before and only had a break out vary little, untill last fall.

Cons:

The first week I used I had a little burning feeling but no dammage was done to my skin. My acne has almost cleared up, it just makes my acne more manageable, nobody has perfect skin.I use the cleanser 3 times a day and reparing lotion at night.

Proactive has worked for me, it helps me manage my skin and any driness I get from the cleanser, the reparing lotion at night repaires it. I am hopeful that it will clear up the little bit of acne I have left.

Pros:

Kept me from getting bad breakouts.

Cons:

Still allowed some breakouts, especially around that TOM. Bleached all of my colored towels. Would run out of the soap and toner when there was still half a bottle of lotion left.

Proactiv really didn't improve the quality of my skin; rather it just kept me from getting too many pimples. I always had at least one visible one, however. I got tired of spending $40+ dollars per month and decided to switch to something else since Proactive never allowed my skin to clear completely. If switching to something else, I would recommend using a similar three step process that you can find in most stores. I am using Biore Pore Un-clogging Scrub, Biore Triple Action Astringent, and Biore Skin Balancing Moisturizer. I have broken out a little since switching, but am already much happier with the results. The overall tone of my skin is much better! I would recommend the Biore line if looking for something else. Proactiv probably works well for most people, but it just didn't make a difference for me. I would still recommend it to people with severe acne, or those who just can't get anything else to work, however!

Pros:

easy 3 step system

Cons:

doesn't help with scars, really dries skin, overpriced, is NOT consistent

I was using differin before Proactiv, so I decided to give it a try since it is WAY cheaper. I had good skin, but I wanted something that would keep my skin clear. At first, it simply dried my skin. A few weeks later, I noticed my skin looking better. I rarely had any breakouts in the first year, but then it just stopped working- I began getting blemishes and whiteheads. My biggest complaint is that when you do break out the product does nothing to help the scars. I am now using Clean and Clear products...SO MUCH BETTER! I have only used it for 2 weeks...and I can honestly say it's better than Proactiv and Differin ($160 a tube)!
