Pros:

Proactiv worked for the first two months that I used it. My skin was smooth and clear and I felt awesome

Cons:

After two months, it stopped working and then my forehead and temples, and upper cheeks started to get tiny pimples, like a rash on them. I kept using proactiv because I thought maybe I just hadn't been using it consistently enough.

It worked for a little while, but ultimately, it made my skin worse than it had ever been before. I bought it because my skin was a little rough before and I had the occassional breakouts around my chin and mouth area. Now my whole forehead is a mess and my overall face is so unpleasant to touch, that I can't even run my fingers over it. I've switched back to St. Ives apricot face scrub and the bumps are starting to fade away. Proactiv was the worst thing I've done to my skin.

Pros:

I've been on it since Feb 2007. It's now May 2007. It's cleared up most of my acne, and for the most part my skin feels softer and smoother than it's ever felt. Also shrunk the pores, and zits that have disappeared from using it haven't returned.

Cons:

Around period time, it makes my skin around the chin and sides areas very dry and peely, sometimes very peely. And sometimes it makes my forehead oily. Sometimes if too much is used, it has a slight burning sensation, which subsides after 20mins

It works. Bumps still come up from time to time, but the parts that have been cleared, have stayed clear, which I really liked. I did a lot of research online before ordering it, and so far am happy with the results. But I really want something natural - I know the job of the Benzoyl Peroxide is to fight the acne, but there has to be a natural alternative that does the same thing. I'm going to keep using it, but keep researching for a natural product. I like the fact that it had given my skin a very smooth and clean feeling, which I've never felt. But it can be very drying, especially around the chin and sides areas, and I don't like the occasional peeling side-effects that occur there as well. Verdict? I'm going to keep using it, but at the same time, I'm researching to find a natural product with better moisturization, that does the same thing as Proactiv. I hope to be using a more natural product by this time next year.

Pros:

It worked like a charm! Within days my face was gleaming, fresh and almost perfectly clear (I expect it'll get better). Wipes off blackheads and whiteheads as if they were not even there. Defenitely worth the money (though it is pricey) and the time.

Cons:

If you stop using it, you may expierience breakouts. For me, however, this is completely normal because if I didn't use it I'd be broken out all the time anyway.

Get it. Chances are, you're not going to find a comperable product very easily. Besides, what have you got to loose, anyway?

Pros:

none

Cons:

made my skin worse than it was to begin with

like so many others, at first i thought, yes!!! this is actually working! then my skin started to get large breakouts, but i thought ok, this is all the junk underneath coming to the surface so i continued to use the product. i should have saved myself the trouble. now i have horrible marks from the breakouts i did get and my skin has never looked so bad. ingenious marketing, horrible product.

Pros:

It cleared up my acne quite a bit.. reduced existing pimples.

Cons:

i get little breakouts, but it clears them up within a couple of days. it dries out my skin a lot, so i can't use step three and i can only use the scrub once a day.

it isn't all that it is cracked up to be. i havn't treid a lot of acne treatments so i couldn't compare it to any other products. it is expensive and doesn't work all that great (on my skin type which is oily-normal). but some people swear by it. it works awesomely on my cousin who is a model and on a lot of my friends. i think you have to try it to see because on some people it works like no other and on others it doesn't do anything. if it would work on you, it would definatly be worth it!

Pros:

Clears skin, skin feels smooth.

Cons:

Skin sometimes dry, bleaches towels, etc. Nothing serious.

I have never commented on any acne product before, yet I have had acne since I was in middle school (I am now in college). This is the only product that has ever worked for me better than anything else. My mistake was stopping use of it when my skin was the best it had been in awhile because of the cost... but my face ended up breaking out bad, which it hadn't done in a long time. So I am now back on it, and honestly it is worth the amount... to feel confident with your skin. I have been using it for a few weeks and my skin is not 100% clear, but getting better each day. I believe in this product as long as you use it properly and stick with it. Good luck to everyone suffering this condition.

Pros:

Lessens the number of blemishes.
Blemishes seem to heal faster.
Gives your skin a healthy glow and (smoothes)preps skin for foundation. (i love natural bare minerals - great for acne prone skin!)

Cons:

I do find that I need to use a little moisturizer when finished with the 3 Proactive steps. My favorite is Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizer. (NOT oil-free gel...even though my skin is naturally oily... regular works best!)

All in all, I find Proactive to be helpful in battling against my acne. Here is the routine which is working for me. This formula took me years to create and I have finally found a comfortable balance with my skin! IN THE MORNING: I use Proactive steps 1 & 2. If needed: dab a little Nutrogena's Spot Treatment to individual spots. Now use Proactive repairing lotion (step 3). Follow with a little of Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisurizer. Now u r ready for makeup! AT NIGHT: I use Clean and Clear cream cleanser, follow with a Stridex pad and then Clinique lotion. This saves on the amt. of expensive Proactive and also keeps my skin balanced. Basically, in a nut shell, I use Benzoyl Peroxide in the morning and salacylic acid at night. This has really worked for me! I am 26 and have been battling acne since I was 13. I am obsessed with perfect skin and this is what I found to give me the best results! Make sure to ease into new products and give them time!
