Pros:

Cleared up skin very quickly, my skin was clear so i decided to stop using it and I broke out the day after. It didn't help for that week, although I went to the Dermatologist and am now using amoxicilin as well as proactiv and It works very well.

Cons:

Can dry out skin if too much is used

Go to a dermatologist, but it is good for keeping skin clear once it is already.

Pros:

The product works well for a few months

Cons:

After a long time of using it; it stopped working

AcneFree is a lot cheaper and I noticed more results with this product. Proactiv is a bit pricey and does work if you religously use it however it seems like the product looses its effect after a while. It dries out your face ALOT - its not gentle at all like the commercial makes it out to be. Tons of publicity and the product isn't great.

Pros:

helps to clear up acne and get you in a good cleansing regimen.

Cons:

can be drying only if you do not moisturize! will need to use a long time because i have acne, and there is no cure...if bp works, you need to keep using it or else you will still break out even after your face is clear

I have used proactiv on and off for years. I went off it years ago because of the drying scaling effects it had on my skin.. Well, needless to say i've been suffering for years trying to find something else. I have clogged pores and cystic hormonal acne. I've tried it all and have been to dermatolgists as well. After finding dan's site and reading about the regimen i decided to try proactiv again. This time i am sure to use a makeup remover every night, I apply the proactiv gently and MOISTURIZE!!! OH! I also use dan's bp gel vs the repairing lotion.. the repairing lotion did not agree with my skin and caused even more clogged pores, which is why i think i stopped using proactiv years ago.. It has only been a few weeks, but my skin is getting so much better. It's not as oily during the day and i'm not experiencing the dryness. I use Cereve to remove my make up and i also use their moisturizer at night. I also use Olay sensitive sunscreen spf for daytime. hope this helps

Pros:

This product works in the beginning. When your face eventually gets use to the medication the acne returns.

Cons:

Very expensive! Drys out face so you better buy a moisturizer if you decide to buy the three step system. Leaves face very oily and itchy.

Ladies and gentlemen, here is my two cents. This product truly does work for the first couple of months. But over time, your face starts to become oily which in the end brings back the acne you were initially fighting. All I can say is if you are running out of options, try this product. Don't expect it to work consistently though. Let's just say if I stopped using Proactiv my face would be worse than it already is. So the product does work but not completely. Good luck!

Pros:

it's reaally a great product, and honestly, my skin has never been this clear... even my blackheads are gone...

Cons:

it will really just take some time to clear skin, but it really does clear skin...

my pimples were gone after about 3 weeks, and now i'm on my 4th month, my skin just keeps getting better...

Pros:

I think it probably actually works for people.

Cons:

Lots! You get a dependency on it, it gets expensive, and all those chemicals cannot be healthy for your skin in the long run.

Treatments like Accutane and Proactiv are very controversial because they work dramatically for many people, but not without a cost or side effect. Personally, I could only use Proactiv for a day and when I went to get my eyebrows done at a salon which happens to also be a skincare center they warned me about the damage they could see to my skin from just one usage of Proactiv, and they gave me a BPO combo cream and a Vitamin C balm and I finally healed. I'm scared of Proactiv because I think it causes you to get a dependency and then you have to keep paying for it and using it forever. It's almost like a drug that way. Well, I guess it is a drug. I understand about desperation but the sales rep even told me it takes six weeks to start working! What about people with proms and weddings coming up?? Makeup cannot hide raised blemishes well. I'm a fan of the natural route, so I use lemon juice as a drink AND topically, plus a burdock root compound and the BPO cream/vitamin C balm.

Pros:

Leaves skin feeling clean

Cons:

It made my skin worse. Be warned guys, this product does not work for a considerable percentage of people that use it. I doubt how genuine the celebrity endorsements are.

As soon as I started using the 4-step system my skin broke out worse than it ever has before. I saw the signs and stopped using it before any more damage was done. Now I am getting microdermabrasion at a medi-spa along with using neutrogena products to repair the damage. I am seeing great results and my skin is almost clear. Going down this road is expensive though but health and well-being is important. Proactiv might work for you but be careful of ending up like many people, worse off than before they used it.

Pros:

Clears skin in a few days, usually... I have mild acne, but ALOT of blackheads on my nose and chin.. :[ I don't know if Proactiv's going to work for it, but I'll try it longer..

Cons:

A few years ago I used proactiv, but stopped because it started to look like my cheeks were burned or something..sort of like sunburnt, but I never go outside. I eventually started using it again (a week ago), and I'm already seeing good results.

Don't listen to everyone who dogs this system, I happen to think if you want to try it, TRY IT. If your acne's bad, it can only get better.

Pros:

Face feels clean.

Cons:

I have been using this product religiously for almost 4 years (morning & night). I don't know why I keep using it... false hope!! It has not helped my skin and I feel like it's gotten worse over the years...

I guess it depends on the person... it works for some and doesn't for others... Best of luck!!!

Pros:

it really works... but it was hard to figure out how to use it to get the results i wanted

Cons:

i had to buy additional pro activ products other than the three step system to get the results that i wanted. also, i also noticed after awhile of using the product my skin got worse, which is when i realized i needed a moisturizer

it works but only when u use it the right way for ur skin type. dont follow the instructions exactly. change it up to fit ur skins needs.
