Vaseline Has Healing Properties
Vaseline does get bad reviews saying that its pore clogging. I beg the differ. I live by this stuff daily. It is moisturizing, healing and soothing to my skin. Now I just restocked and it seems that my all time favorite ones from Big Lots/Family Dollar the formula has changed. Its not as thick and creamy as usual, not sure whats going on with it now. Ive gotta search for a new brand. If any of you can relate and know where I can get the thick Vaseline at Please feel free to chime in and let me know. Thanks, BA.

Dry, damaged skin
Allows me to protect my skin from the elements and prevent it from losing moisture, which most acne treatments really sap your skin of! Vaseline helps prevent the acne I get caused by dry skin. I really load up on it in the winter, applying it after my aveeno daily moisturizing lotion. I detracted one star because it can be really tricky to use under makeup. I recommend a primer and a mattifying foundation. Even then, it tends to get greasy and doesn't have the same coverage. I'll deal for how good this is at preventing dry skin and breakouts. It's also cheap and easily available.

Amazing for healing skin
If you put a thin layer of petroleum jelly on a healing wound such as an acne lesion which is scabbing over it will speed up the healing process like crazy! Your scab will fall off much quicker and you are less likely to have hyperpigmentation/ red marks after it has fallen off. It is also great to put on a drained acne lesiom before a scab has allowed to form as the scab often slows down healing process ans the jelly creates a protective film against the atmosphere allowing your skin to heal and close over. For quickest healing results i recommend applying at night as well as during the day and then reapplying if it rubs off or absorbs (basically as you would with a regular wound)

Didn't work for me
Not sure what went wrong for me. Thought vaseline might work because of the good reviews here, but it didn't. I applied it every night for a week, then wash it off in the morning. Initially, I thought it was working by making my pimples come to head.. but after a few days I realised that I was just breaking out quite badly. Finally stopped it and bought something that I felt might calm my face down- aloe vera gel. Just 2 days after using the gel, I feel that it's slowly healing the damaged that vaseline caused.

I can tell where you went wrong in this process; you washed off the Vaseline. Vaseline regularly works to heal the skin by leaving it on. I have an acne prescription given to me by my dermatologist and I use it every night. One day, I got these horrific pimples and I tired popping them: BIG mistake. They bled, peeled, turned dark (though they weren't too big) and hurt with just me touching them. I put on my prescription one night and for the fist time put Vaseline over it: it worked! I'm not sure it you retested the process (and that you may know all this information by now) but I hope this feedback could give you a little more insight coming from another person who struggles with acne.
