A few years ago, I had a large cyst by my eye. This has resulted in this depressed type of scarring/hole next to it. I have been to a dozen dermatologists, have gotten microneedling done, saline injections, etc. and nothing has gotten rid of it. I'm tired of feeling insecure about something I have tried for years to get rid of.
Well first don't get microneedling please that's just going to do nothing. Don't go derm go plastic surgeon. That's an extremely sensitive and thin area obviously and your options will probably be limited. I can imagine less experienced or even normal doctors might not want to fiddle around there given it's so close to the eye as well. I don't think filler is safe in that area by the eye I mean if it shifts it could be dangerous.
The only thing I can think of would be some sort of revision or excision but I'm not sure without a volume addition it would be muh better looking say if you cut it and just reconnected it. It would still lack volume.
Not really sure the safest theoretical approach. Maybe someone has more insight with delicate spots.
see a reconstructive plastic surgeon might remove by excision. you will trade it for a larger line. or possible to get fat transfer there to raise it. fillers is not recommended because it tends to migrate, which may cause issues if it migrates behind your eye.
*Im not a doctor.
I'm not saying this is a good or viable option but consider laser treatments.
The eye area is very delicate but eye protection for these procedures are required anyway. Some doctors place shields inside of the eyes but I forget what they are called. I believe your scar is far enough from the eye so that there's very little risk. Please discuss this with your doctor.
Laser procedures have mixed review and, like every other treatment, has potential benefits along with risks. I've personally benefitted from them and have had times when they did nothing or gave me hyperpigmentation or additional small scars.
Hi, I had a very similar scar (mine was deeper and bigger than yours) excised recently by an ophthalmologist. They perform a layered closure, in which the underlying tissue is closed with absorbable sutures so that the level of the surface matches the surrounding skin after healing. In my opinion, there is not much dermatologists can do about it because of the tricky location, and I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with someone microneedling that area. When I got the anesthetic injection I thanked myself for not letting anyone else mess around with it, because it really is so close to the eye. Plastic surgeons and ophthalmologists do this all the time with different skin lesions. If you decide to go with the former, I recommend looking for a doctor who has a great experience in blepharoplasty. Nevertheless, if you're gonna have it excised, be extra super careful with the area after the surgery, unfortunately, part of my scar reopened a few days after the upper sutures have been removed, so it probably won't be as pretty as I hoped for but I'm still optimistic. I will make sure to come back and post my after photo once it's completely healed. Don't worry, even scars like this can be improved!
The scab finally fell off, so I can share my overall experience. I wish I didn't have such a complicated healing period because the scar looked so good when the sutures were removed, but when I look at the before-after pictures I'm still happy with the results. Keeping an eye contact is no longer an issue for me, and that's huge. Next week I'm going to see a laser specialist, hopefully after a few CO2 rounds it will look even better.
Tips to anyone who is going to get the same procedure done:
- prepare to have 1-2 days off after surgery, the pain wasn't bad but my eye was watering and it felt best to keep it closed, I had my surgery at 2 pm and slept through the whole day afterward
- avoid any heavy lifting, don't go to the gym or do any hardcore exercises for a month
- after suture removal when water can hit the area again, be very gentle when you wash your face, don't rub or whatsoever the scar because it's very delicate for 2-3 weeks
- try not to move your eyebrows too much, and by that I mean even when you sneeze try to fkeep your brows still
- absolutely no sunlight can hit the scar for a year in order to prevent discoloration, you must use sunscreen even on cloudy days
I hope anyone that is reading this will find it helpful! Good luck on your journey!
