Hi All,

I was wondering does anyone have any experience with Dr Moon Choi in Vancouver Area? I have emailed his clinic and this is the quote that they have provided:

3DAcneScarRepair Programis a combination of various procedures including but not limited to:Fractional RF (Infini RF), Cosmetic PRP (AcneScarTherapy),TCA CROSS,Easy TCA Pain Control Peel, Vitamin C Injections, and/or USPL lasers. This program allows customized treatment plans that cater to different skin as well as health conditions that vary from patient to patient.3DAcneScarRepair Programis priced at$2,599+GST*per session and patients repeat the treatment an average of 3-6 sessions every 6-8 weeks depending on the existing skin conditions as well as desired outcomes

This is the before & after photos on his clinic's website: https://skinlife.ca/treatments/3d-acne-scar-repair/ . It looks promising, but seems like getting touched up (idk actually).

What do you guys think?

I've seen Dr Moon Choi's name on the original BA's post for recommended derms, but I think BA has removed that post.

Uhmm, I don't think so. Sorry. At this point, you can't help questioning the guy's integrity.

I don't know where BA got his sources from, but some of the docs listed on that FAQ should be avoided.

Hi Sirius, Thanks for your reply.

Are you saying you don't think the photos are touched up? If that's the case, except for the first case, the rest of them look like over 90% improvement. I've never seen such improvement for moderate-severe acne scar cases.

Hi, I had the treatment with him only once and honestly didn't see much results since he was very conservative with the treatment, meaning he used low setting on the treatments. However, I think perhaps if I had done more treatments with him maybe I would have seen some results. In Vancouver, I doubt you'll find better.

Thanks for your feedback.

So you've decided to go with the 3D acne scar program and he has performed all the treatments all in one session including INFIRF, TCA CROSS, PRP, etc?

Or you can select what you want do. How much did you end up paying tho?

No, I think the pictures were photoshopped.

Dr Moon Choi is a naturopath charging more than a dermatologist for the same treatments...WTF.

When I looked up Infini, it was $500-800 in the Vancouver area. If you go to Vancouver Laser it's a technician that does it, but at least there's a real doctor on site if there's complications.

If I had that kind of money for ONE treatment, I would probably just travel to see one of the specialists in the US - even with COVID, that would be a better option than seeing an ND.

Edit: Also just looked at his credentials - after his BSc, he went to University of Bridgeport, a low ranked private university in the US. To me that screams of someone who didn't have the grades to get into any Canadian programs, and had the money to travel and basically buy degrees elsewhere. Now he also has the money to buy expensive equipment andthe marketing skills to sellpeople on his meaningless foreign degrees. I don't think his training is any better than any technician's - his biggest claim is "Galderma's Canada's Top Cosmetic Injector" which is probably based on sales.

Thanks for all the information and investigations!

Yes, that's also what I'm curious that he is an ND not an MD. The reason I would like to ask abouthim is that in his website, he said he was recommended by Henry Ngai, who is the top derm in BA's FAQ in Vancouver area. However, either Henry's clinicor himself doesn't have a good review on Google and rateMDs.

Seems like it is really hard to find a reputable derm in the field of acne scar.

Dr moonsangChoi has no integrity lol. I was told by someone who onceworkedthere that dr moonsang Choiis busyinhaling laughing gas in between and right beforepatient treatments. She works for another doctornow becausehe'snuts. All should consider visiting a real doctor. Vancouver laser offers exact same treatment for half the cost. *avoid alert*

It's strange, as far as I understand the university of Bridgeport isn't even an accredited naturopathic medical school... so not sure how he even has the title of ND?

I just completed my first session of "dermasculpt" early last month with Dr. Moon Choi, and I am actually very impressed with the result. You're supposed to get 3+ treatments and it is quite pricey, but I've seen a much better result with this than I did with Laser! I got a targeted treatment rather than my whole face, which was half the price. I had actually read this thread before going, and it freaked me out so much I almost cancelled my appointment. I am so happy I did it anyways! Obviously it could just be that my skin reacted very well to it, but I have rolling, boxcar and icepick scars. It especially helped with the rolling scars, and the icepick/boxcars are already a lot less deep. Its been really hard to find a well reviewed dermatologist in van, and I honestly think he did a really good job! good luck!

Hi! I was thinking of going to Dr. Moon Choi, his treatment using dermasculpt caught my eye since it doesn't use energy devices. I was wondering how you were doing and how the results are looking now? I'm also a little wary after reading this thread and wonder if I'd be better off going somewhere else. There also doesn't seem to be a lot of information on dermasculpting aside from his own website from what I could find, so that makes me a bit hesitant as well. Thank you!
