Hi all,
I have been following acne.org out of frustration from my acne scars. I have saved up 5 grand (USD) for treatments and can have a month off from work once I start treatment. I understand that a combination of subcision, TCA and fillers are usually the gold standard for scarring.
My biggest concern is my left temple where there are a few large tethered and depressed scars. I'm also not sure if the small scars (they look like white spots in the photo) on my nose can be improved. I am Indonesian with ethnic skin.
Any advice for the best approach for my scars so I'll know what to expect or suggest to my dermatologist?
What would be the best spacing for the schedule of treatments?
How much improvement should I expect for these scars?
Thanks so much for any input and advice you can give!
Lighting for photos are under sunlight, and the other ones where my skin seems a lot darker is under angled fluorescent lighting.
There are Dr's in Indonesia in the FAQ, or you can search your local social media platforms that are popular in your country for example instagram, facebook, twitter. Put subcision and largecity by you. That is the hardest thing to find. Many Dr's will treat you with laser quickly and will not improve your scarring.
Sadly this is not how acne scar work goes where you take a month, do a multi procedure and are done. The body does not heal like this and takes months to heal after each procedure. Instead I would break up your vacation and take a few weeks each year to treat if that is the only time you have.
You have boxcars, icepicks, and rolling scars.

Hi beautifiulambition. Thanks so much for the info. I'm not sure of the severity of my scars relatively speaking. Would you consider this moderate or severe?Any rough idea ofwhat percentage of improvement to expect after 1 session of aggressive subcision and TCA cross?
QuoteYou need lots of TCA Crosswork done before even considering laser or rf needling.
Do you think this is something I can do on my own at home to help maximize results over time before the actual visits ?
QuoteIf you truly want a one shot treatment then fly to see Dr Lim in that month's period. Otherwise Drs are terrible at doing multiple things at once and you will need many sessions of subcision and tca cross.
I'm not sure I can afford that.A closer option would be in the Philippines since I don't see anyone listed under Indonesia. I read in the FAQ and sawDr Margaret Corcoran in thePhilippines. I might fly there instead since it's a lot closer than Brisbane.
Thanks again!
@indofilo96I would say moderate scarring. You definitely need filler in that cheek rolling scar and the temple after your subcision.
Percentage I never provide as it's variable depending on how you heal. We are talking 4sessions so 1 session isn't going to give you a huge percentage - it's progressive.
I am sure there is someone near you, ... I wish I could speak your language. Try the above methods of searching for a major city by you and subcision on social media. I know some countries around you advertise on snapchat, twitter, instagram, facebook, etc...
At home, ... yes as I said above monthly do dermastamping to your scars and alternate with glycolic peels until you can do another Dr's treatment. Retinoid cream or gel nightly.
If you cannot afford filler then do Chinese Cupping to your scars for a month after subcision.
You don't need a month to do this, you could get 2 or 3 treatments out of that if you spread that time out over a year to treat.
