I don't drink

I don't smoke

I don't do drugs

I don't party

I eat healthy

I drink loads of water

I exercise 5 or 6 times a week

I wash my face twice a day

I use skin care products religiously

I shower and am hygienic

I switch my pillow cover every 2 weeks

And yet I still get acne and have lots of scars while my friends who partake in the unhealthy things and barely do the healthy things are acne free and scar free.

I know I shouldn't compare myself with others but sometimes I just can't take this life. At this point, I am my skin and my skin is me. I just want to drift away

It is unfair. You are 100% correct. I hope you improve and know that you are needed and have a purpose here. I am trying to do the same... I wish you peace and love and beauty, in whatever form you can see it in.

@gutskinaxis mainly chicken breast, veggies, a little bit of brown rice, eggs, etc. I have tried cutting each specific item to isolate it but it doesn't really change anything. I have tried the vegan, vegetarian, paleo, etc.

I gave up eggs, too. I heard they can feed bad gut issues and make acne worse. Maybe try giving up eggs?

The OP's diet is solid overall. It's unlikely that would make any difference

It's definitely annoying. The vast majority of guys don't use retinoids or anything. I followed better skin care routines and still got stuck with permanent scarring. My scarring gets worse by the day too. There's nothing I can do about it either -- procedures are too expensive.

Yes you are right. Life is unfair but wasting your time on thinking about why life is unfair won't help you.

Anybody should do the best with his or her own abilities and resources.

Comparing ourself with others every day(in skin, money, family, etc) can ruin our life and mind and dont let you enjoy your life

Look up “Skin Positivity” —you will find some Instagram accounts that give you some positive ways to look at this.

I totally understand though, I have friends who smoke and drink and they have perfect skin. I know MY acne was genetic, it was not because of my lifestyle.

If you require Accutane to control your acne, then it's very likely your diet isn't causing your acne and its most likely genetic. Otherwise we wouldn't need the side effects of Accutane and we would just change our diets. I know diet played very little of a role in my acne. Of course, a good diet is required for general health, but it will most likely not solve severe acne. I know for me Accutane was the only thing that made a significant difference.

I remember five years ago I started drinking green tea regularly. It makes me feel great, but it didn't make a difference to breaking out. Only Accutane did.

I agree, it's just bad luck that you have skin problems when others don't. Remember though, there are a lot of people out there with severe disability and pain management difficulties, and they say similar thing. Why me?

My solution is just find what works and find a dermatologist you feel comfortable with, as many don't specialise in acne treatment and offer minimal help.

This thread would be better suited to be moved to the Emotional and Psychological effects of Acne forum.

A psychologist that you feel comfortable with would hopefully be able to assist your well-being. This particular forum is very helpful in finding information about scar treatment options and advice.
