So I've grown up as a habitual picker, and I'd pick at my scabs and acne, unfortunately, that resulted in these red spots on my face that don't seem to go away no matter what I put on it.

I've visited the dermatologist and they gave me Hydroquinone 4%, which works on PIH, but I believe I have PIE?

Any help on what I could do to help my skin issue? Any comments or opinions are appreciated.

@AsyloFirst of all you know picking causes scars, so please don't do it. I don't see scars. I see PIE or redness or wounding. The best solution for this is vascular laser.

PIE is a wound, as such many use a after laser treatment for early wounds or you can use something like vaserline for a few weeks. A wet wound is a happy wound.

Once you get past the initial state if there is ongoing redness. I would try the nightly routine below. Other helpful things are glycolic peels or a lightening peel, niacinamide creams, tretinorin or differin, etc. We don't want to irritage a wound so do not put hydroquinone on it.

Comfrey and callendula is also healing.

Think of it as a wound or a cut. Some people have these for a year(takes a long time to heal). As such then they seek laser therapy if it takes to long, do not prolong it with over exfoliation, excessive acids, rubbing, or irritating chemicals.

** Please Note I offer to acne scar suffers a "more" "customized" (private) consultation than the above general advice. Analysis, answering questions, ongoing support by Private Messaging. Feel free to message me there. Be patient as I can get over 100+ of the worst acne scar cases to help, it "may" take me up to 48 hours to respond.

Checkout the main scar treatments sub, find the FAQ pinned on top there, goto the bottom, there are Dr's or call around and ask who does cannula subcision or nokor subcision (needle type) to dermatologists and or plastic surgeons, consult a few before you decide who you like, even if you have to pay as treatment is expensive, better like them. Ask how many subcisions they do a month and if they treat your skin type. If they just do laser run they will just blast you and not solve your issue.
