Need help with Identification & Treatment

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!
I had pretty severe acne in grades 6-9 and tried a variety of products that never seemed to work.
I took accutane in grade 8 and it got rid of my acne but I was left with scarring.
I am now 19 so I’ve had scarring for about 4 years.
Im looking for help to identify what kind of scars I have, and how I should go about treating them.
have heard laser treatment works well but to be honest I’m fairly uneducated on all of the different types of treatments.
I had trouble getting good pictures because it really depends on the angle of lighting.
Also, I still occasionally get a pimple here and there.
Let me know what you guys think!
thanks.

An easy at home method, needling, see what needling will do for your rolling scars.i would have said tca peels and needling alternating every 6-8 weeks.tca work you will have to do or laser resurfacing, tca is considered safer, its also cheaper if you do it yourself as long as you follow the guidelines.

Few larger scars on the jawline- lower cheek and temples are tethered - Subcision with or with out filler for these larger scars. You can try microneedling RF first, but I suspect they are tethered. If they pucker when you smile or talk, they are attached to the underlying muscle layer, and subcision can reliably free these up. I would not advice laser as first off, certainly once your scars are shallow, and if you want to improve overall texture, lasers can help, but manual scar revision in the correct hands will beat even the best lasers.

Ok Thank you!
I am going to go to a specialist soon and get their opinion, and proceed with a treatment after.
Any advice on how to find the best dermatologist?
Also, you are recommending that I go for subcision with the possibility of fillers, correct?
thanks

The dermatologists we know of are in the faq - top of the scar solutions sub, first post.

Check the reviews for the US it's realself and yelp, ... for your country it's whatever they use to rate Drs. You want someone who sees acne scar patients often, and that does subcision often in his practice.

Yes subcision and HA filler will work for your jawline scars, be aware a "few" are normally recommended when the filler dissolves you do it again.

You could also do a TCA peel if you wish to improve texture.
