Can Pih Cause Dented Scarring? Basically Just A Question About Inflammation And What Type Causes Dented Scarring.

So I know inflammation from acne can cause scarring.

Can PIH cause scarring?

How can you tell the difference between inflammation and PIH?

I know this might seem weird but I am wondering whether the red marks that I have (acne has cleared but its still red) could scar.

Does anyone know much about inflammation and what type causing dented scarring?

I thought an indented scar would form as the zit itself is dying down, just as a scar from a cut would form as the cut itself is closing up?

Well PIH is hyper pigmentation after the inflammation subsides. Usually natural inflammation (not caused by you picking or irritating your acne) does not cause scarring if you are treating your acne and get it under control. Inflammation caused by picking is normally what causes scarring.

Yes it would be indented as it heals because it is inflamed as of now. I suggest you massage the indented scar vigorously back and forth once it heals completely to stimulate collagen production and blood flow. :)
