Ethellouisee12 0 Share Posted April 16, 2014 Hi there, I am 14 years old and have very small ice pick scars from acne and i am very worried.. Will they fill in as I get older as they are very tiny? I also have a dent in my face from popping a cystic pimple a while ago and it is quite big. I do not want to put too much products on my face as I am only young or get any laser surgery and what not. What should I do? ALSO would it be okay for me to just use my own cleanser then just benzoyl peroxide and bio oil?? Thank you xx
jimsport 1 Share Posted April 18, 2014 i swear cleaners dont do anything at all, just get on that accutane and get rid of them to prevent less scaring down the line.
ddimbu 1 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Since you said they are very small, the might getting even smaller over the years as your skin makes new, fresh layers of skin. For now, put honey on/in them, and then wash it out after 10-20 minutes. Honey is known to help indented scars. don't worry too much, once you get a little older, you can have some surgery. at least they are very small. Just don't pop any more pimples or irritate them to prevent scarring. You can also see a dermatologist, see what they'll tell you. Best of luck
LeadingForce 96 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Bio oil is bad for the skin clogs pore resulting in more acne
Bonsai77 26 Share Posted April 19, 2014 They will heal in time to a certain extent, dont worry. Cleansers and creams dont do anything, you need specialist care, such as needling or even using retinoids. These are options for later on as you are still young. They are hardly noticeable to others

How long do you have them? My scars are still discolored after 1+ yr and they are bothering me so much! Please, we can work on this together, let me help you and help me
Bonsai77 26 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Guys, dont freak out. Ice picks arent bad at all, they just look like larger pores, they arent noticeable. I once had a boxscar on my nose and that was horrible, seriously ice picks are nothing. Retinoids are known to help with collegen production. Exfoliation helps reveal newer layers of skin, chemical exfoliation is best, such as using a gylocic acid facewash (Sk:n do a good one) LATER if they are still annoying you, pursue specialist treatment such as lasers and needling. Where are the scars?
Shelbyville 4 Share Posted April 19, 2014 (edited) Hi bonsai, my main concern is the discoloration. The scars itself are nothing as you've said but the colour of the scars doesn't match my skin tone. I'm trying differin at the moment and after 1 month help them much. If I got rid of the discoloration it was awesome, way more awesome than get rid of the actual dents. Bonsai77 26 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Discolouration is not permanent. Exfoliation is best and Differin is a chemical exfoliator so that should help. I find that chemical exfoliation is better than manual scrubs, so maybe you can find a facewash that contains glycolic acid or something? I found differin took me a few months to see visible results on my hyperpigmentation (im very pale japanese so my redness contrasted with my skin terribly..) You must wear suncream when using these products as they make your skin super sensitive and also the suncream will prevent them getting darker. Drinking water can also help your complexion, as can exercise as it increases blood flow. You could try skin lightening creams, ive never tried these personally though. Discolouration is not bad it is smooth and can be easily covered if you wish. I would rather have that than a huge raised cyst...i wish you luck! Shelbyville 4 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Yeah, my scars are smooth if you touch them and my skin looks also smooth however if I prick my scars I can feel different skin tissue density I really don't know if it's normal or not. I've searched a lot in the internet but I cant find anything usefull. Last year I went to my doctor for a routine appointment and in the end I asked what were these "marks" left by acne. (I was a little embarrassed and so I pretend I didn't know what that was but I knew I had some small ice pick like scars) Anyway, he said those are macules but they aren't. Trust me, I can distinguish macules from scars. I don't know why he wasn't more "professional". He looked at my, said those were macules and laughed... "When you reach my age you won't have those"... One year isn't enough to heal?! Damn, I don't know why they take so much time to heal... And they aren't even from a cystic -.-
LeadingForce 96 Share Posted April 21, 2014 ice pick scars will not heal on there own dont spread false info giving them hope rather then helping them prevent it in the future
Bonsai77 26 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Ice pick scars will never fully heal, but they do seem to become less noticeable over time. It is not false info, and it must be remembered that we all have different skin and heal differently. You are not recommended to take extreme action on a scar unti you have had it for 2 years, as they change in depth etc. I have seen many specialists on this area and have done a lot of research. Ethellouisee12 0 Author Share Posted April 22, 2014 I also have a large area of my skin that is so light and I am black, is that discolouration? & i do not want to take accurate! What should I do about these scars?
KAmanda 44 Share Posted April 22, 2014 My son is 15 and had what looked like a very small ice pick scar on his cheek last summer, now it has completely flattened out and you can't even see it. So, yes, they can flatten out over time. The younger you are, the more collagen in your skin and the faster the skin turnover rate, so more likely scars will fade. What should I do about these scars? I have no experience with lighter patches as my ace marks are red. It is discolouration but im not sure if its from acne. Is it a huge patch or small marks? It isnt vitilingo? I think you may have to see a specialist. It is a loss of pigement but I dont know how to make it darker. Dont worry though, someone will be able to give you some answers and it doesnt make you any less beautiful.
