Help! How Long Should Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation Last

=( I've been pretty depressed about this lately.

I went through retin a treatment, which causes me to breakout at the places where I don't normally breakout (neck, chin). It left me with a lot of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Is 8 weeks enough to at least see a major improvement? I just don't know what to do anymore.

Unfortunately, no. PIH can take 4-6 months at minimum to see noticeable improvement. Don't despair, though - it will heal (as long as you are not breaking in the same places anymore). One way to speed the process up a bit (and to avoid more permanent skin discolorations) is to always use sunscreen (i.e., put it on every morning, even if you won't be outside).
