HELLO!

My name is Savannah Coots, I am newly married, living in San Diego, livin that marine wife life!

So, this is my first time posting here, so bear with me!

My acne has been bad since middle school, and in grade 11 I went on accutane, then went on it again 6 months later due to the fact my skin broke out a day later after my 1st course! (NOT COOL) okay, just breath, inhale, exhale. Ahhhh better! haha so anyways, after accutane failed me a 2nd time , I decided to change my diet completely, and went strict paleo, now I am paleo auto-immune diet... which is easy for me

.

While paleo has worked, especially in the beginning (not so much now) I knew that I had to get to the bottom of my acne, eczema, kp, food allergies (so many!) and why I NEVER FEEL GOOD ANYMORE!

Before accutane, I could eat any food I wanted without stomach issues, well not anymore! So I am wondering if accutane kind of ruined my gut? (If you are planning on taking accutane, please don't let me scare you off, i'm just warning you of the possible things that could happen, but again, EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT)

Anyway! I also am nearing my menstural which starts tomorrow (tmi i'm sorry) and my face is just covered in inflamed clogged pores, and I KNOW people have it so much worse, in fact, before diet change I had it BAD! But stil, who doesn't want to have consistantly clear beautiful skin?!?!

Hahah random dancing bananas for the win!

My question, to sum up all of the maddness, is what should I do for my auto-immune issues, I drink bone broth(yummy!) I tried fermented cod liver oil, but broke out, was an emotional wreck, and had 3 periods in 1 month! Again NOT COOL! haha

and I have tried DIM, just started today actually, so we shall see how that goes....

As far as fruit is concerned, I stay away from citrus, and anything high on the GI such as watermelon, mango, dried fruit, etc.

PLEASE HELP ME ?! =)

God bless

There's no data on isotretinoin causing gut flora issues. It very likely wouldn't because it's not a "true" antibiotic.

It's rare for someone to have numerous allergies. Cross-reactions are possible with some allergies, but it's not always the case.

By eczema, do you mean atopic dermatitis or just xerotic ezcema (severely dry skin)?

Do you have PCOS, or did you have at one point pyoderma faciale/rosacea fulminans?

Why do you say you have auto-immune issues?

well, you see, I went t o my doctor, and he sis some testing thing and saw I have a leaky gut and that my flora was practically gone and had bad yeasts in my intestins and hardly any good ones.. but idk why as I eat really well.. I thought I might have autoimmune because of my horrible immne system.

2 years ago, I would eat what I wanted, now I cant have anything I used to ! Like avacodo, strawberries, oranges, grapefruit, peppers, raw cocoa, onions, etc

My eczema is in the form of raw open sores on my chest that bleed

I have no experience with auto-immune issues so I can't give any advice on that area.

However for eczema try GLA oil (borage oil). I know several people who have used it for their eczema (or their children's) and have had great success with it. You simply apply it on the affected areas. It takes a couple of weeks but apparently it really works.

Good luck.

Auto immune is when your immune system attacks you, i.e. creates antibodies that attack your normal cells.

What you should do is eat healing foods for your digestive tract like bone broths & mucilaginous plant foods like cactus & okra. After a while, gradually add probiotics, ideally via fermented foods. A lot of people have reported bad results from supplementing probiotics while having these intestinal issues.

What you want is an anti-inflammatory diet. Eat mostly real, whole fruits & vegetables, herbs & spices. I'd avoid all seeds right now as they are difficult to digest & high in antinutrients that harm the digestive tract. Nightshades as well like the above mentioned peppers. Also avoid bad fats like margarine, shortening & vegetable oils which means avoiding most commercially prepared foods. And avoid any high glycemic meal, drink or snack.

Excema is one of the many skin conditions, along with acne, that occurs when there is a deficiency of linoleic acid in sebum. Linoleic acid is a major component of sebum that helps skin function properly. You could do the GLA mentioned above or you could get a quality safflower oil which is nearly 80% linoleic acid. That's what I use.

being an 'emotional wreck' also doesn't help. You must learn to deal. Keep as natural as possible circadian cycle. Breath, Meditate, yoga, Walk/hike amongst trees, hug, etc.

"Leaky gut" is a dubious diagnosis and there is zero evidence that any proposed treatment even works.

Being a woman puts you at higher risk of autoimmune disorders, but you need to get them diagnosed by specialists.

I would get that checked out. It might be fungal or viral and not true eczema, and I don't want that to get infected with something worse.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I used to be able to eat anything I wanted and not have any real problems until just recently. Now I get severe pain after eating some things like bananas, avocados, and walnuts, and I get tachycardia/arrhythmia/bloating/burps when I eat oatmeal. I had some blood tests done, and they've shown that I have elevated neutrophils. My GP thinks it could be a parasite, so I'm getting some antibody bloodwork done this upcoming Monday to find out.

I've been cleaning up my diet for the past two years, but only in the last 3 months have I done strict paleo (I am now eating some grains like rice, and fermented dairy). I don't want to say that my digestive problems were caused (or unmasked) by going strict paleo, but it's something to consider.

Regardless, depending on your symptoms, you could get some parasite tests done, or suggest the possibility to your GP. Some of them can only be detected with antibody blood tests. Others require a stool test.

How could garlic cloves possibly remove a parasite?

Garlic cloves haven't been tested in a trial, and that some parts of an undigested clove could look like a "worm."
