Retin-A Micro: Increasing From 0.04% To 0.1%

Been using Retin A Micro 0.04% for lets say about 8 weeks now and still get occasional pimples but not as much as I was getting before. Before I had a lot more small pimples and break outs but I still get lets say 5 pimples (3 small & 2 big). My skin is a lot smoother tho.

I still have a bunch of PIH. Look like a chocolate chip cookie.

The 0.04% doesn't make me peel at all and I know if I want my PIH to get better I should probably peel so I can create new skin cells.

I have 0 irritation from the 0.04% and was wondering if I can possibly start using the 0.1%.

I know the 0.1% may cause more irritation but maybe if I used it once or twice a week I would have increased results for acne, PIH, and have less irritation than if I used it every night.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

P.S. I was thinking about adding Neostrata Gel cleanser w/ 4% gycolic acid to my regimine of 0.04% retin a micro but worried about irritation. How can I add it?

Hi akheem,

I read your post and I think you would be fine with 0,1%. In fact, studies show that dark skinned have a thicker skin and therefore it won't cause you any harm. Please, just don't overuse it because it might have an opposite effect on your skin.

Your skin is great mate! It isn't "horrible"! At least you don't have any scarring, just some residual pits that should also go away Retin A.

(if you want even faster results you should look into other methods but there's no point, Retin is the safest cheapest way)

All the best mate,

Shelbyville

Okay I'll give the 0.1% a go tonight thanks.

I used to use Neostrata gel cleanser and that worked pretty well actually but went to place for facials because of PIH on my forehead, tried that for a few months and it just made my face worse.

I'm thinking to start using neostrata again if retin a 0.1% doesn't work.

Don't get upset, everyone has got pimples at some point in their lives. As a previous user has said, you are lucky you don't have any scars, and by how the things look you won't be getting any if you don't change what you are doing at the moment drastically. I would recommend you benzoyl peroxide if the 0.1% concentration won't work. All the best!
