Hi there looking for anyone that has had experience in dealing with doctor khan for acne scars share all your experiences good or bad. I personally went to a consultation to see him but wasn't to impressed with his over inflated prices but may be willing to go to him for treatment if anyone has had some good experience with him

That Ernesto is a joke. He posted several pictures and loads of information when his skin was still recovering from the agressive treatment he had but wasn't able to post a single picture months after, to show his PERMANENT results. From time to time he returned to the forum to explain he was too busy to post a new picture (although it takes just 10 minutes to do that) and to promisse he would post new pictures soon, torturing everyone who was impressed by his amazing initial improvement. It's interesting he had time to read everything people wrote and to write long posts himself but didn't have some minutes to take a new picture...

When he finally posted a new picture the lighting was different from the before one, so we never saw his true results.

There was an excuse about no space available for new pictures on acne.org or something, but creating an account on photobucket is so easy.

I was visiting that old thread again. There are pictures taken 2 months after the procedure. I can see a 50% improvement, but 2 months is not enough time. When I had a CO2 laser done I could still see a good improvement many months after the procedure. One year after my laser, however, the scars had gone back to what they were before the treatment. The permanent improvement was minimal.

I think it's best to avoid Khan.

Are you willing to show some photos of yourself? We could see what is causing you worry and perhaps give some advice based on that.

The whole Ernesto thing to me seemed fishy. This also didn't say anything good:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2159011/Cosmetic-surgeon-stars-pressured-woman-going-knife-offering-discounts-liposuction-procedure.html

I may be wrong though.

What you have is hypertrophic scarring it seems to me then.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypertrophic_scar

I think I remember reading somewhere that there was a new approach to dealing with those but I can't remember where or when. The reason I asked for photos was so that we could see the severity as well; sometimes people stress over things to a degree which is disproportionate as they are traumatized/still processing/mentally shook up.

I'm not trivializing your situation.

From the info on his website on his CV I got under the impression that Dr Khan is neither a certified dermatologist, nor a surgeon, but a GP. That's what put me off wanting to see him in the first place.

He does NHS and private, you will be waiting much longer for NHS. Although I am on NHS i would have no hesitation paying for his services and I am contemplating doing so to undergo the brand new dermapen treatment he is getting hold of soon.

I would also recommend you Prof Chu. He is simply the best specialist you can consult. He does care for his patients and is not out there for the money.

A tip from me-see no other than Prof Chu if you go to his private clinic- the other doctors there are no good!!! I had bad experience with one of them that resulted in more scarring. I was inconsolable for weeks sad.png

Hey Pumpkin21,

what brand new dermapen do you mean? He has been treating patients with the dermapen for over a year now. Or is there some novelty that I am not aware of?

Btw I have had 2 dermapen procedures and it is wayyy better than the roller in terms of pain and results.

I have some deep scarring and I must say that I don#t feel comfortable posting pictures of it on a public forum.

The doctor I had negative experience with is Dr Alil. I deeply regret the appointment with him! If you go to the clinic, see Prof Chu no matter how long you have to wait!

Hi sorry for delay, the new dermapen is one which offers even more punches than old version, Dr Chu is getting it and will offer it as private treatment only. Said it works even better from tests already done and is less painful.

I will ask him more when I see him on next appointment by which time he should have it

Hi, Thanks for this info!!!! You have just made me very curious!!! Hope it all goes well for you at your next appointment. Pls do ask him about this new dermapen device. As I fly from abroad I have to see him at the private clinic and might as well get the new dermapen if he offers it by then. I have my next appointment in December.

I saw Chu two weeks ago and he mentioned this to me - said it was due to arrive that same week, so I imagine he has it by now.

Regarding Khan, the guy is simply in it for the dollar; you can tell that as soon as you step into his office and check out the decor. For £300 when I see Chu I am able to get subcision, TCA Cross and Dermapen with PRP. When I went to see Khan, he wanted £500 (in 2011) just for subcision.

I got the same procedure without PRP. This treatment is available only at the Hamersmith hospital and I had some difficulties trying to book an appointment there. How did you get your appointment?

Wish you all the best with the procedures!! Personally I am very happy with the results from my last dermapen and it makes me very hopeful to hear that there is even something better on the market from Dermapen!

I got a referral letter sent from my NHS GP to his office which got me a consultation (which I had to pay for, and I had to wait around six weeks for that). I then booked in for my first session - I think the wait was two-ish months - and recently had my second session. Am spacing them three months apart to help me save the money needed.
