Does Retinol make red marks/scars redder at first?

I starting using retinol 1.0 on my acne red marks/hyper-pigmentation and it seems to be making them redder. I only started one week ago. Are the marks supposed to get redder before the skin peels off?

Has anyone had success with retinol for their reg marks?

Make sure you're using a good moisturizer as well. Your skin could be getting dry, making it redder.

I am. It just seems to have made my red marks more visible. I am not sure if this is common to look worse before better? Not sure if I should continue!

Yes. That's a normal response to retinol. The hyperpigmentation will fade much more rapidly with retinol/tretinoin, but it won't be instantaneous. You'll start to notice the results in 4-6 weeks. Make sure you wear SPF30+ everyday even if you're just going about your normal business. All retinoids increase sun sensitivity, and the sun damage incurred when using retinol will be much worse than if you weren't using it.
