Hey everyone! I've been off accutane for a month now and I still have a lot of red marks / PIH. Accutane made my skin heal very slowly and the red marks that I got have hardly faded. What can I use to make my PIH disappear faster? I am really thinking about using retin-a but if anyone would advice me against it/ has a better idea, I'd be happy to hear it.

what exactly does retin-a do, it fades marks? I'm using it now, only for a few days and noticed no different, maybe just made some pimples even more red

To my understanding, retin-a exfoliates the skin and increases cell turnover, thus getting rid of the discolored skin more rapidly. It apparently also rejuvenates the skin, but it takes time to work like all treatments. I'm just wondering if it's recommendable and if not, what other product I should use. Also, remember that retin-a works differently post accutane.

Red marks are not discoloured skin, its blood deep underneath the skin, way deeper than the layers that shed off with retin a use. The only thing that helps red marks is time/lasers. That being said retin a could indirectly help your red marks by keeping your skin healthy and free of new acne.
