I really need help with these scars. My back is filled with dark marks that ive had for years now. Ive been applying bio-oil for about 2 months now but i dont think they have gotten any better. The hyperrophic scars have been there for years now and have stayed the same dark color. The only thing i want is for the scars to lose the dark color, and maybe flatten a bit. What can i do? Im attaching some pics now. Thanks in advance
Have you tried silicone sheets or gel? That's what I'm going to try for my red ten-year-old mole removal scar on my back, which is supposed to help with the colour and flatten it after several months of consistent use. Sadly I don't have personal experience yet, so I don't know if they work. I hope you get some advice from more experienced posters. Good luck.

Yeah I tried the scaraway sheets they seemed to help flatten them, but it seemed temporary. Also a major problem I had with those sheets was it never stayed on, they always seemed to come off. Im tempted to try again

Forgot to add, thanks for your post.
if they are raised like keloids, then steroid injections can help to flatten them
as to the color, PDL or IPL laser treatments work, but they are expensive....cheaper but longer is alpha hydrox 10% every morning and every night if your skin is tough, and you could add lactic acid peels to the mix too

I'm trying to stayaway from the dermatoligists. I was looking more into the realm of OTC treatments or home treatments. I've been thinking about the acid peels but im not to sure if they would be too harsh on the skin. Tbh the raised part doesn't bother me as much as the darkness of the scars. Thanks for your answer
then start with the alpha hydrox enhanced lotion or Dan's AHA once a day... see how your skin responds....if it handles it well try it twice a day, OR add a lactic acid peel weekly try a 30% peel at first to make sure your skin can handle it
the AHA is great it helps with hyperpigmentation over time, and also helps keep your skin free of any new blemishes

Alright yeah I will try it, how long would i have to use it to start seeing results? A few weeks, or a few months?

For hypertrophic scars I suggest you get cortisone (steroid) injections. They'll flatten them in a day or two and remain flat, so it's not temporary. It's hard to find home remedies to treat hypertrophic scars but the dermatologist is the only solution I'm afraid. Injections like these, if not done professionally, can end up dead wrong.

A treatment like that would be expensive though wouldn't it? I was thinking maybe silicone sheets
If you have a dermatologist that you have a relationship with, it won't be that expensive for the cortisone injections....and you could have them done all the same day- it is painful but they do work.
But if you really want to work on the color by yourself it takes a long time, lots of patience required...check out the lactic acid peel users on this site, you can get results faster with stronger lactic acid peels that you do yourself, and you can get the lactic acid on Amazon for a very reasonable price.
But it will take patience, and time, but pick a path and stick with it for a few months, be it the AHA daily at 10% or the higher % lactic acid peels.

Yeah I was thinking about the lactic acid for a while. Do you know anything about the Puredeming 40% lactic peel? Its like 1/2 a fl oz and costs $25 total.
I haven't tried that one, I think I have Skin Solutions from Amazon (I'm not home this week to check)....but check out the lactic acid peels here on this site, the more aggressive you are the quicker the results, but go slow in the beggining to make sure your skin can handle it...
give it a try!
but also take some vitamin C internally, and make sure you use sunscreen so you don't lose any progress that you make

Yeah it's the one on the sticky, so i guess it's decent. It seems a little bit expensive for so little though. Might as well give it a try
