Accutane and skin picking

Hi guys... I have been on accutane for about 2 months now, small dose of 20mg.... Tbh I am
not sure how my derm came to pick this dosage because he never weighed me or any of the usual stuff, just prescribed this doze... Anyway, it's been OK... tolerable. Only problem I am really finding is dealing with the skin picking and pimple popping. I fixated on it a lot prior to starting accutane but now it's so much worse and I have no idea how to stop. I don't even need to be looking at my skin in the mirror - just washing my face and feeling the bumps makes me pick... Any tips on how to stop this?

Hey there! I am a stress/anxiety enduced picker myself, I have been for about 6 months and I definetly have the scars to prove it! Anyways, I just started Accutane 12 days ago and I knew I HAD to stop picking because of the way the medicine effects your skin. Basically, you skin is able to heal itself with the help of your oil glands moisturizing your skin to make a hospitable environment for new skin. Hence the reason why your skin heals slower on accutane! Anyways, the BEST site to help you stop picking is by far StopPickingonMe.com. It has a 12-step program and is all around very supportive and amazing. There's also a skin picking forum on acne.org that has so many great tips as well.

My personal advice: don't touch your face by any means. Gloves, tinker with a toy, sit on your hands, try everything! Your pimples will vanish so much quicker now that you are on Accutane. Month 3 is magic month so your skin will be clear in no time! All us pickers know the cycle: you happen to touch your face, something catches the attention of your fingertip, you start to pick, and then never seem to be able to stop!

Wish you the best!!

Oh wow thanks for the website, I will definitely have a look. The worst part is I know I shouldn't be touching it and I know there is a "method to the madness" so to speak, with how accutane works. I'm just struggling to stop :( glad to know I am not alone in this.
Thanks for the advice!!
