Hello everyone.

I™ve been struggling with subclinical acne (comedones) and oily skin for about 10 years now, which have even led me to serious psychological problems.

Basically I™ve tried everything possible except to Accutane in these 10 years but nothing gave me significant or stable change.

The texture and oiliness is sometimes worse sometimes better, an okay skin period may last for a week but then comes the hell again.

These changes have nothing to do with my period. I don™t know what™s causing them as I™m trying to avoid everything which might cause breakout and on OC for 5 years.

I™m just so tired.

Could anyone tell me the truth please, would it heal? Or it™s just my destiny.

-

Current diet: avoiding dairy, vegetarian

current skincare: AHA peeling once a week, sensitive cleanser and non-comedogenic moisturiser everyday, Benzoyl Peroxide on forehead

meds: YAZ(oc), all possible supplements, anti depressants

pictures: bad condition day (amount of clogged pores increased, oiliness increased, blackheads visible, pores enlarged)

Salicylic acid is the best way to go get rid of your sebaceous filaments/blackheads because it is the only acid that is oil soluble.Look for 2 % concentration ( like paula's choice ones), wait 15 min because of ph alteration and then follow generously with hydration. If your moisturiser is comedogenic, it could worsen your problem. Make sure it does not contain vegetable oils, mineral oils and waxes and that it is low in silicones ( generally silicones are not comedogenic by their own but since they act like occlusives and penetration enhencers, it can make other problematic or irritatatingingredients behave even worse). Facetheory m3 supergel is really good for that. Sal acid niacinamide and green tea are one of the few OTC ingredients that have also shown to be effective in sebum reduction. Since your skin can be irritated with sal acid, you may need to cut back benzoyl peroxyde. See how your skin reacts. Also, you can use sal once or twice a day, it depends on your sensitivity. Then, i am sure you know that pure clay masks are really effective. I find gren clay inpowder form is best. The key is to apply it in thick layer and not to let it dry. That way, you can use it several times per week.

Also, adding a very small dose ( verymax 30% of the amount recommended per day)of vit a can significantly reduce sebum production. But you have to be very carefull not to overdose. If skin is oily, it CAN also be a cause of too much androgen. I find drinking 2 cups spearmint tea a day to bea very good solution for my oily skin because of its natural yet soft anti androgenic properties. But the best way to go is to have a blood test done before.

Hope this will be helpful. I had also been coping with extremely oily skin and now my skin is not far from normal.

Ps: your skin looks nice though

Hi Nouchka98. Thank you very much for your reply.

So I have tried everything youve mentioned and sadly nothing has cleared up my skin to the conditionit was before itstarted getting greasy. Also nothing helped me not to break outregularly.

Im in a constant fear that I wake up next day and find myself full of comedones like now.

Im on oral contraceptives for several years which should have helped me with reducing androgen levels. Howeverit seems they dont, as my sebumsbeen produced like crazy.

You squeeze out your blackheads and in 2-3 days theyre there again. Its so frustrating.

Im already 25 and dont know till when this hell is gonna continue.

Has anything helped anyone what is not mentioned here?

Sorry to answer you so late. I did not read your post. I am so sorry that it could not help you. The last way to go is tretinoin. You can have it from your dermatologist or from a website like dokteronline or curology that make you in online contact with a dermatologist. (Be carefull with other sites and fake products)

Before iwas on tretinoin, i had to cover my face with salycilic acid morning and night in order to keep my pores clear from the gunk. But my pores remainedenlarged due to excessive sebum production.I have been on tretinoin along with sa for 6 months and my pores size have drastically reduced. I would say they are 50% less prominent. It is a commitment since you can bevery irritated the fist month or two but after that, you generallty start to notice results. It is LONG and you really have to keep your pores clear forthem to start shrinking, that is to say you have to be very diligent with cleansing, continue to mask and do salycilic acid in the morning if your skin can handle it. Also, perhaps look for an sonic face spatula. It is very effective and used by estheticians.

For your oily skin , maybe your oral contraceptive is not suitable for you so check with your doctor and do so blood test. Maybe you have pcos... who knows? Also i find that if i use powder on my face, i have way less blachheads and sebaceous filaments. I use the rms un powder and find it is one of the most effective powder for very oily skin.
