I came across some studies ( http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=22381 http://www.clinreal.com/IMG/pdf/01-02-2.pdf ) that supposedly support it reducing oily skin by 30%.

I'm thinking about buying a cream that includes it. Does anyone know something about this?

I've been eyeing this ingredient for quite some time - it looks really promising. If you're interested in using a product with a high amount of 5-Alpha Avocuta, you can try the ISIS Pharma Teen Derm K. It's a European product.

I should let you know, though, that I've tried other topical 5-alpha reductase inhibitors such as L-carnitine and green tea extract and haven't had much luck in terms of reducing sebum with them. :( I'm a male, so maybe that's why? Perhaps these types of ingredients would be more effective in females.

That's actually the product I was looking at. Hmm

Yeah.. I've tried green tea extract too, no luck there. And was about to try l-carnitine. I wouldn't doubt if that's the problem. So far I've haven't found anything that works, other than expensive/temporary mattifying gels.
