Having tried numerous different cleansers in an attempt to control my extremely oily skin, It was suggested to me that I try a bar soap containing triclosan. Being an anti-bacterial soap, it should supposedly help with existing acne as well as removing excess oil from my face. I have used it for about 3 weeks and although quite drying (I combat this with a nightly moisturiser), it seems to help, at least temporarily, better than most cleansers I have used. That being said, I have heard using a bar soap for your face is not recommended. Has anyone tried using a similar bar soap on there oily facial skin? Would you recommend to continue using it? If not, does anyone have any other recommendations? I feel that as soon as I can manage the oiliness of my facial skin, the sooner I can completely rid my face of the closed comedones.
I am currently using such a soap with supposedly added tea tree oil, zinc oxide, etc. and I have to say it works very well for me (posted in another thread). I am using it along with azelaic acid 20% twice a day each time washing my face twice before application; my acne started clearing up within 10 days and I am mostly acne free for now. However, remember to be gentle.
