hi, SO i started taking a generic form of ortho tri cyclen birth control for my acne. I was all taking retina a at night and onexton in the mornings. My acne started to get better but was definently was not perfect. It was just better then before. I know people get an initial breakout on birth control but I didn't really see one at least for the first two months. But now on the third week of my third month on birth control I have suddenly gotten five massive whitehead pimples on my chin. I am really discouraged right now because birth control is supposed to start working after three to four months. Is it possible that my skin is just finally having its initial breakout and now I am going to have to have three months of this? or is this just one final purge before it clears up?

Thankyou so much and please share if you had a similar experience

:smileys_n_people_15:OMG! So I'm not the only one. I have been taking Yasmin and this is my 2nd week of third month. Before that I was on another pill for about a year but had to switch cause it didn't work out. For the first two months (on Yasmin) I didn't experience any unusual breakout except on my pill free days. But now I'm getting more breakouts than usual. I am freaking out and can't figure out if it's getting worse before getting better or the pills aren't simply working the way they are supposed to.

I had very bad skin reactions to both the pill and my iud that only improved after stopping taking them/ removal of my iud. I'm unsure why my body reacts this way and it sucks that I have to choose between good skin and safe sex, but I choose to stay off birth control because acne is a major cause of depression for me.
