Hi I've had the nexplanon implant for about 5 months now (got implant in October). I have had acne before and I was on medicine for it for 6 months and my acne was completely gone away, I got the implant and about 2 months later I was getting tons of acne, my break outs have not gotten any better and my acne has even went to my back and chest now, just wondering if anybody has had this problem wth the nexplanon implant because I'm thinking about getting it out soon..

I am going through the same exact issue right now. not sure if it'll clear up or if I need to get off of it. mine is around my chin/mouth so I know that it's hormonal and obviously from the nexplanon. I hate it. I feel your pain.

Hey, I suffered from moderate acne as a teenager and went through a series of medications to get clear skin but by 18 I'd been put on Co-cyprindiol contraceptive and this was a godsend for me. Clear skin for 4 years. At this point I figured I'd 'grown out' of my acne and chose to get the nexplanon implant November 2013 as an easier form of contraception so i could just forget about it. I was loving everything about the implant, until around February/March 2015, so like a good 15 months in, when I ERUPTED in severe cystic acne along my jawline and cheeks. The acne I'd had previously was nothing compared to the huge painful lumps i had this time round. - I went back to the doctor and she put me on Doxycycline which helped to a certain extent for a few months but by February this year I'm back to square one with the painful lumpy red face only this time it is allover my face when (I've NEVER had acne on my forehead) :( . - I'm going to the doctors on Monday to see about getting my implant taken out and to be put back on Co-cyprindiol, as it is due to come out in November of this year anyway and I suspect that it is the hormones that is causing my acne.
