Saw Palmetto - Should I Try It? 3000Mg?

Hi,

I suffer from moderate hormonal acne and UNBELIEVABLY oily skin. Antibiotics and topicals haven't helped me because, fundamentally, my sebum production just needs to be fricking sorted out.

I'm a girl and my cycle is regular, not too painful but it's only 19-22 days long. I suffer from some facial hair, but nothing crazy at all. I definitely get symptoms of PMS and my skin is terrible the week of my period. I assume low estrogen/problem with too much DHT?

I plan to try saw palmetto as a last resort before accutane, but I am worried about taking something estrogenic - I know I should get my hormone levels checked but I'm not going to as of now.

Is 3000mg a safe dose of saw palmetto? Are there any strange side effects apart from possible estrogen-based effects like breast growth?

I plan to take 3000mg a day if I give it a go - I am pretty sure that my acne is caused by excessive DHT as my skin is so oily.

Could 3000mg destroy my liver/make myself much more likely to get breast cancer or ovarian cancer in the future?

Is this safe to take with an antibiotic and vitamin D3, given D3 is essentially a hormone?

Thanks

Take it from me, if you suspect estrogen problems, do not take saw palmetto. It will probably help with hirsutism, hair loss, and even acne, but it might make estrogen dominance worse if you have a tendency for it.

In my opinion, inositol is the mildest supplement you could try to see how you respond to anti-testosterone supplements.

And no, vitamin D3 is not a hormone, it's a pre-hormone...there's a difference.
