That's fantastic news - really great to hear that you are finally getting the results you have been waiting for. My daughter has also seen some progress recently - not as much as you though. Her skin is still very unpredictable and can change from good to bad and back again very quickly! However, mustn't complain as overall I would say it's calmer.

Best of luck to you for further improvements - I think you will be 100% clear soon

Ah i'm also the same though, i have better times and worse times. Today i'm thinking I can see a couple of little pimples coming up next to my lip and on my chin. So i definitely think it's going to take the full 6 months for there to be constant improvement for us both!

To be fair- it makes me feel better that when I went to see a private dermatologist, she said realistically Dianette is designed to take at least 6 months to clear the skin. I went in there like "so most people online have told me 3 months", and she was like honestly you will not be clear at 3 months or I highly doubt it, its very rare and that 99.9% of her clients come to her clear in 6 months. At the time I was gutted- but now its approaching 3 weeks away from the 6 months mark i'm so so so glad it is 6 months otherwise i'd know this pill is never going to get me clear haha

That's good to know. We haven't seen a dermatologist, but our GP kind of implied that we should see results at the 3 month stage so obviously it was disappointing when we hadn't really seen an improvement at that point - but it's really encouraging to hear that your dermatologist said 6 months is the point when results are usually seen I think our next battle will be getting our doctor to prescribe it for another 6 months - we'll see. Anyway thanks very much for passing on the comments from your dermatologist that's helped a lot.

Ah yes- definitely keep positive. My derm kind of laughed when I said 3 months, so she probably hears that a lot from people hearing reviews from only the lucky ones that do get clear in 3 months!

Oh gosh- don't even go there. I'm so nervous my doc won't prescribe again but i'm sure it'll be fine. Imagine if all this 6 months breaking out was for no clear period at the end!

Day 149. Day 11 of month 6.

Skin has been good these past couple of days, really nice. Its been great! Got a spot coming up next to my lip now, but not much to complain about.

Am going to watch my diet today and onwards a bit more- i'm usually good but its sometimes hard with all of these treats in the house left from Christmas! Lots of water for me today! :)

Skincare update- i'm currently using the La Roche Posay, Effaclar range. With the creamy foaming wash, and the effaclar duo. And slowly started to re introduce the toner to go with it.

Now my skin is behaving better, I was looking for a treatment for my little red scars which are small and flat (thankfully) but i have a lot of them. I looked at many products but i had to be very very careful that they didn't make me break out all over again as i've learnt my skin is very sensitive. So i found the perfect bare minerals serum- Biolucent Mineral Brightening Treatment which is for acne prone skin and "Diminish the look of dark spots and discolouration while brightening skin with this effective mineral treatment."

I'll be very cautious using this product, putting it on once and seeing my reaction. I'll definitely be easing into this one! But the reviews are absolutely amazing!

Day 150. Day 12 of month 6.

Skin is holding up well, other than the hugest spot next to my lip.

:(

If only that wasn't there it would be great

Day 151. Day 13 of month 6.

Skin is, hmmm average. Spot next to my lip is going down for sure, which is great, it was literally massive. So so so noticeable.

Spot appeared yesterday on the other side of my mouth area- which i'm hoping Duac'ing last night and today it will go straight down. If thats the case- i'm very very very happy.

I'm interested in Diet at the moment and how it effects skin. The past week or two i've had much more sugar than usual, with a lot of left over Christmas chocolates and sweeties in the house. And not making sure i get enough fruit and veg. And as much as i'm usually good, i've been nibbling on it as its there. When its not there, i'm fine. So starting yesterday, i've been cutting down on the treats/cutting them out, but mainly making sure i get enough goodness.

Lemon and water, making smoothies with Kale, Avacado, Spinach, Flax Seeds, Wheatgrass and all that goodness!

So we shall see, if my diet was the reason for this little outbreak :) i'd like to think so- because it's easy to correct.

Day 153. Day 15 of month 6.

Can see a big spot coming up on my cheek? Hoping it goes straight back down by drowning it with Duac. Other than that- we're okay at the moment.

Really hoping at the end of month 5 these 'occasional breakouts' will stop !

Other than that- i'm all good! Thats the only proper spot i have at the moment, so thats really really great

Day 158. Day 20 of month 6

One active spot around above lip/cheek area. This is all. Other than that- great!

Only seem to have one active pimple at a time at the moment- hoping on month 7 it'll be no active spots at one time ! :D

Day 164. Day 26 of month 6

Mmm, skin doesn't look great today. Quite a large spot on one side and can maybe see another forming? Not 100% though

Will reassess when i get ready for work. Using the new Anti Blemish concealer by Clinique today as I have a large tester from the lady at the counter.

Think I will buy the 3 step clinique anti blemish solutions kit today? Has such amazing reviews. Think my skin needs a little helping hand :)

My daughter is in the same boat as you. Doctor wants to change her to a different pill, but hasn't said which one - we have an appointment next week. Seems such a shame that things have started to improve, only to change before we have seen the full effects. She was hoping to stay on it for a year! I will let you know what our doctor says.

Yeah so bad isn't it! I have 3 more months, has your daughter been given any more to take her past the 6 months?

I know! I feel like i've had the initial breakout gone through all the rubbish phases finally got to the good and now i'm gonna have to come off, literally dreading it.

Yasmin is the closest alternative with the similar hormones, so I may go back to this. Doctor said something about switching me between the two? Constant battle i swear :( how is your daughters skin holding up?

We have got another 3 months worth - we haven't actually seen the doctor yet to discuss an alternative, but she left a message to say she has to change at the end of this 3 months. It is disappointing as her spots are definitely better (if I look back to a month ago I can see a big difference), however, she hasn't got to the stage where she's totally clear with settled skin. Maybe, Yasmin will be OK if Dianette has more or less sorted it out? I've also heard about Cilest (I think I took it, but it would have been ages ago so I can't be sure) - my daughter is just panicking about the thought of switching and breaking out for months and months. If she could stay on Dianette for six more months I think that it would help a lot with her scarring. Did you get an initial breakout with Yasmin?

I completely agree, my skins so so so much better but its not 100%. I mean, it has really good phrases mainly, but i could never ever ever ever leave my house without concealer or let people see me because of my scarring.

I still get light breakouts throughout the month, of maybe one spot only which i am so happy about. However, around my period time wether it be before, during or after i'll get a couple of spots come up which can be sore and don't look too great. But still again, so so so so so so much better and doesn't stop me from doing things i need to do.

Yeah, i've heard about Cilest too! But i'm so scared to try a completely different one as it could go so wrong. In one respect, i think i've been on yasmin before and had amazing skin for a year/18 months, but in another way i remember how awful it was towards the end before i went onto Dianette and think should i try a different one? I feel yasmin is the safe option though. It apparently is the closest hormones to Dianette, I read an article on here and i can't remember the exacts but i remember the hormones were the same but Yasmin has 30mg of one of the 3 hormones and Dianette has 35mg?

I can't remember really. It was over 2 years ago i started yasmin now, however i do remember for the first year/18 months never ever worrying about my skin. it wasn't even something i'd had to think about. So i really would recommend the yasmin. I never ever would even think about acne throughout the first year/18 months, it was never something that effected me. And i was put on Yasmin for my acne not for contraception thats why i went on it when i was 15. So it definitely cleared me compleatey! However, my body rejected it after a year and a half. I do remember my skin clearing a lot quicker than dinette though and better than dianette !!!! Could have been my age tho. Not sure if its a better pill for me or just that my hormones are very messed up this past year which i assume it is

The docs said that hopefully a initial breakout wouldn't happen, due to Dianette already being into your system. Also explained that Dianette is used as a quick shock treatment in order to get your hormones into check, and i could have access to this again is Yasmin stopped working after time by switching between the two in order for it to be safe. However, the thought of switching to yasmin says to me, come off dianette, break out, wait 6 months for yasmin to re work, that'll work for a period, break out, wait 6 months for dinette to work. Hopefully not- i couldn't deal with that!!!!

Skin is okay at the moment. Happy with it. One small tiny tiny spot on one side, and one that has been healing and has left a kind of bump like scar. So only one active.

Started using the Clinique 3 step anti blemish system today due to the amazing reviews :) hoping it'll make me flawless and maybe help reduce my scaring too

Hi there - thanks for your comments on Yasmin. I am going to speak to our doctor tomorrow so I will let you know how I get on. My daughter's skin is much better no doubt about it. Still a few spots, but so much better, however this has only happened in the last three weeks so it really did take the full 6 months to calm it down and I would say she probably needs another 3/6 calm months for the scarring to improve. I agree with you the thought of going onto another pill and breaking out and then back to Dianette and waiting to clear again is not want you/we at all. I'll post again tomorrow.

Hi - just spoke to our doctor, she is happy for my daughter to stay on Dianette for 9 months possibly a year as she is a healthy 15 year old. After that she will have to change to a different pill, so the plan is to change to Yasmin either in 3 months or 6 - I'm hoping for the latter. Definitely will not go past the year mark though.

Things are definitely better, but as you know the marks left on the skin seems to take forever to fade. She also has quite a few shallow, indented scars which I hope will improve now that she is not getting a constant stream of spots.

Hope things are still going well for you.

Ah- thats great! Did your doctor recommend Yasmin for after? I had such great skin for the first 18 months of Yasmin- it was amazing! Just worried because this time Yasmin is a less strong pill than Dianette, its a step down. However, if me and your daughter have had hopefully clear skin for a few months by this stage then it should be absolutely fine!

I'd really really like Dianette for a year, I think i'll go to see the female doctor after this 3 months and explain to her the situation. Coming off Dianette as soon as it starts to get good is so silly after this rocky 6 months! It definitely needs at least some time to settle.

Yeah I sure know about scarring- takes so long to fade. I have been using Bare Minerals Biolucent Brightening Serum to fade mine, it was the only all natural treatment with so little ingredients I knew it wouldn't break me out. Didn't want to rock the boat with loads of rich scar fading serums! And i've definitely seen my red scars get smaller and lighter. And this is only after a couple of weeks!

Yes our doctor talked about going on Yasmin after Dianette - but we are definitely going to ask for another 3 months of Dianette after the 3 months supply she has now. However, my doctor did make it clear that Dianette is an old fashioned drug and therefore not to be taken long term because of blood clots, but she also said that if you are fit, a non-smoker and not over weight you would be very, very low risk. No harm in you asking another doctor about staying on it up to a year, after all from the info on this website it seems that many people do.

I will have a look at the serum you are using - sounds really good. At the moment my daughter isn't using anything at all, just a Simple face wash and a bit of concealer - she is so pleased that she hasn't got to smother her face in harsh topicals right now (touch wood, hope I haven't jinxed it!)

Anyway take care - update soon.

One quick question, I forgot to ask earlier - how are you finding the Clinique blemish treatment?

Yeah i definitely will do! I'd really like the full year, that way i'd have till end of july/beginning of August, enough time to get me through summer! Thank you

Yeah i definitely didn't want to rock the boat with rich scar serums and this one just sinks straight in and is all mineral. I found this video really informative and great before and after pics!

Well, i'm not sure if its just a coincidence. Usually throughout the week i'd get a couple of little spots or at least one large one, but at the moment i haven't had a single spot since i've started using it. Not even a tiny tiny one. So amazing really! I had to try it after the rave reviews. I love the 3 step, a gentle foamy wash a tingly toner and then a nice soothing clearing lotion/ moisturiser. So far i would highly highly highly recommend. Love it.

Day 171. Day 5 of month 7

Day 173. Day 7 of month 7

Skin is good. 2 little spots came up around lip / chin area. Wondering if its linked to going out the night before these formed and using baby wipe to remove make up which i never normally do? Who knows! As this is the only night i haven't used my Clinique skincare morning and night and since i have its been amazing! Could be a huge co incidence though! Nothing too bad though. They're small but still relevant
