Day 1-28 update: last cycle I had 1 medium and 1 large breakouts. I started using 10% glycolic acid lotion and it seems to really work well, though weirdly my forehead gets a rash from it, while cheeks and jaw get no reaction lol. I like how it makes my skin smooth and the exfoliation seems to be reducing the closed comedones. I started it about a week ago. I didn't expect to get a large breakout again, perhaps upping Inositol dosage just means diminishing returns. I received my vitamin b3 serum today as I've heard it can be good for acne as well as marks/discoloration. I also got b3 supplements (niacin) but researching further I'm hesitant to take them seeing how they seem to boost HGH (human growth hormone) and that in its turn may stimulate more testosterone production, which seems to be the culprit of my acne.
I'm trying to get back into healthy diet routine but I do have cheat days way too often :P

Day 1-28 update: So last cycle was pretty bad. I got 3 large breakouts and too many mediums to count. I lowered my Inositol dosage back to 1.8g. I'm one week and 2 days into current cycle and I already have 1 large and 1 medium breakout.

Day 1-28 update: so last cycle wasn't any better. I got about 3 large breakouts and overall 15 large/medium/whiteheads. I called my new derm and got prescribed Aczone during the day and Veltin at night. I started today, so let's see how this goes. I have been eating worse because I'm assuming the topicals will make it easier on my skin, but I'll still try to stick to an overall healthy diet.

Day 1-28 update (a week late): So I had one large breakout on the bottom on my chin and about 4 medium ones. The topical antibiotics seem to be working for the closed comedones as I have almost none now and hardly any new ones popping up, but I still get inflamed acne. Wondering if it will get any better if I give it another month or two. Who knows. Diet is hard. I can't really stick to it anymore, same with lifestyle, it's all been kind of out of whack. Getting a lot of mood swings making regular things hard to deal with. I'm sure that has to do with hormonal imbalance, or bc. I need to figure out how to get back into healthy lifestyle but I just feel so exhausted and healthy food just makes me sad :smileys_n_people_24:

1 Year of Aczone/Ziana update: So I realize it's been a while, so I decided to make an update. Since about 2-3 months on Aczone and Ziana, I haven't really had a problem with acne. Aczone seems to revert new growing breakouts if caught early, it's incredible as far as anti-inflammatory topicals go, and Ziana is good for exfoliation and not letting pores become clogged. Every now and then I do use an over the counter salicylic acid wash, but mostly I cleanse with Dove soap once a day or use a makeup remover as cleanser. So far no treatment has given me better results than Aczone and Ziana. My diet is at its worst (which is bad, I admit), but it doesn't seem to really affect my skin anymore. I'm still on Yaz and have been this whole time, I don't know exactly how much it helps at this point but I'm feeling confident I could do without it if I didn't need the birth control itself.

Decided to do another update to sum up the past year (late, I know). Cystic acne is back! Started out 2 years after my last bad breakout, as always. So far strangely it seems to only ever be on my chin and my topicals are really struggling to keep it at bay this time. I'm still on Yaz and Aczone/Ziana. My skin is getting very sensitive and worn out from the harshness of the topicals, so I don't use them every day, but more every other day, though I apply some locally as spot treatment everyday. I use Curel ultra healing lotion and also Mushroom relief lotion by Origins, which I have recently bought and love it so far (would recommend for oily skin, though mine isn't, I use it because it leaves 0 residue and is great as a base for makeup or topicals). This month of February is the first month since the beginning of the breakout that I'm getting truly cystic like acne. My diet has been pretty bad, I admit. Coffee every day for a while now, lots of alcohol, junk food. I also stopped taking inositol a while ago thinking I didn't need it anymore, but now tried to restart and broke out like hell, though maybe it would have happened anyway? But I got spooked and stopped. I'm cutting out alcohol and coffee 90% (cmon, gotta have a life still lol) and eating more veggies and fruit and less junk, so I'll see where that gets me. I may see my derm again soon, and also do a series of Laser Genesis/Vasculite, can't hurt at this point. So the count for this month is at least 3 very large deep breakouts on my chin, 2 medium that came to head overnight under 2 different topicals. Worth noting I always get my worse breakout of the month during the ovulation period. I could feel my testosterone spiking recently and I'm guessing this is no coincidence. May start updating this log often again to keep track of everything.
