hi everyone¡
I have my school formal coming up in 2months time and I'd really like your advice to help me clear up my skin!
first, a little past experience story. when I was 14/15 I broke out in a mild case of acne across my forehead. my mum reckoned it was because of a reaction my skin took to the new shampoo I was using and also I had "cradle cap" which is constant shedding of skin along the scalp. my doctor gave me a liquid called Zineryt which I applied twice everyday and I applied it all over my skin to help get rid of regular spots too. this cleared up my skin in time and I was pleased with the results although I had these clear skin coloured bumps with nothing inside them all over my skin, especially on the side of my cheeks. I started the Dianette pill shortly after and this kept my regular spots to a minimum. it made me really moody all of the time and quite hormonal so I stopped it after many months. my skin was perfectly clear for a long period of time and I continued to use the Zineryt so that the acne would stay away and my skin would remain clear.
a month before my 16th birthday (August) my skin broke out horribly on my cheeks, chin and forehead especially! my forehead started out as a few bumps then transformed into this (see images)
most of them have nothing inside just a clear oily liquid but some others get heads like whiteheads which I squeeze and then they bleed a lot.. and I STILL have those bumps all around my face too! I think my diet might of been the reason as all I ate in summer was junk food and I drunk a lot of alcohol too.
my acne was now immune to Zineryt so my doctor gave me Duac gel which I hear is quite popular. I've been using it for about a month now and barely see a difference in my forehead, although my cheeks have improved a lot. I also started the Dianette pill a month ago too and I'm not sure if it's making a difference yet. I wash my face daily with the Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Scrub which was recommended to me by my mums friend who suffered from acne too. I use the Cetaphil moisturiser and I use Mac's Pro Longwear Foundation.
if you have any advice for me I'd really appreciate it! x
Please read this article on the food causes of acne. Alcohol can be lumped in this category as well.
Diannette works for many people, but it will take at least 6 months.
