Hi, I'm 15 and I've been dealing with acne for a little over a year now. I've tried a few creams and over-the-counter treatments like BP, Proactiv, Nuetrogena, and lots of home remedies including lemon juice, honey masks, aspirin masks, etc. None of these worked even for a little while. I believe my acne is hormonal and the only other option for me seems to be birth control. I wouldn't have a problem with taking bc, I'm just worried that if it works at all, my acne will come back worse than it was after I stop taking it. I've read so many stories about this happening to other girls and it just seems like it isn't a good option in the long run. Is there any alternative for hormonal acne? Does it ever go away on its own?

Every hormonal option must be taken long term unless your body goes through some major change on its own and you are one of the lucky people who actually "grow" out of your acne. Any option I can recommend will only work as long as you keep taking it / doing it. As soon as you stop the acne will slowly come back.
From my experience, so many women go on birth control by their twenties just for protection purposes, that I wouldn't believe most who said they grew out of acne unless they've never taken bc. I did not use hormonal bc pills and my acne stayed with me well into adulthood. I take spiro to stay clear. As soon as I stop, acne comes back.
