Okay, I have looked high and low and can't find the answer to this question! Can you donate blood while on Spironalactone? The Red Cross website says that birth control (which I am also taking) is okay, but nothing about spironalactone (Aldactone). I would really like to donate blood or platelets soon.

 

It should be fine, but spiro can lower your blood pressure, so get your blood pressure checked before you donate. You might also want to skip your dose the day you donate.

I actually say no because it can cause birth defects in boy fetuses and I worry that someone would get the blood and be or become pregnant shortl afterward.
