40 yo and finally acne free...mostly

As an adult who has suffered with very large cystic acne for 20 years I'm finally finding peace...for now at least. And honestly not quite sure why! But here is what is currently working for me:

A new dermatologist put me on Spironolactone 50 mg. I took this for at least a year and my skin looked great...though dry and a bit more wrinkly than what I'm used to. I have been using Differin 3% for years for blackhead control and I've found success. Last summer I had another acne cyst that was quite large and out of frustration I quit the Spiro. Why bother I thought? Because my skin seemed "old" I contacted one of my friends who sells Rodan + Fields Redefine. She put me on a "system" if you will that seemed ridiculously expensive. I am 6 months into this program and I swear I have not had 1 outbreak! I still get smallish pimples by my nose and my skin is again oily. But I'm pretty sure it's the Daily Cleansing mask that is doing the trick. Because I have cystic acne, mostly on my chin, I had zero expectations that this "regime" would help any of this. Let's just say i'm pleasantly surprised! I'm not sure if it was the Spiro that put me on track. I suspect it was. But being able to have my skin under control has been such a blessing. I felt like I had to share. I also wonder if anyone else has had this sort of experience with the Redefineprogram. I know it's not marketed for acne; I think they have another product for that.

My 2 cents. Hope it helps someone out there.

@m0sita87, your root cause was your gut?  Was it gluten inflammation?    Just days after I posted this I got put on a round of Prednisone for an asthma flareup and am literally back to square 1.  Argh.  :@  Hoping to flush this out of my system quick.  Always interested in what people find that works.

@m0sita87I plan to purchase Garden of Life probiotic to restore my gut. Living in Asia, rice (gluten) has become an essential part of every family, eating it is unavoidable.
How about your gut story? Adopt a gut-healing diet?

One of the many foods that help me heal my skin were bone stocks. I wrote a brief article on my page on how bone stocks help heal the skin and how to make them.  Here's the link in case you'd like to learn more  http://nakedflavorsnutrition.com/miraculous-food-for-healthy-skin/ :)

I swear by the healing powers of bone broth!! Great for the gut and for the skin!!! This was literally the first thing my son's nutritionist recommended for him. His skin has never been clearer!! I also started drinking it recently as a good addition to an already-healthy diet. Making some now!!! |::)

Wow, I have heard bone broth before, in cancer prevention & the ancient traditional asianrecipe. Bone broth is said to help promote longevity. But I don't eat meat much as fish. I will make it. haha.
1. But according to your article we should simmer for 6-24 hours. Do you think we even need that long time? It will consume too much gas, energy, electricity... (and the bill skyrockets..).
3. WIth 1pot like yours, how many days will they last before you have to cook another batch?
