Water Fasting For Acne

So I have what I would consider moderate acne. Certainly not nearly as bad as some people have it, but I definitely have trouble skin. I also have mild to moderate eczema, usually mild. Been struggling with acne for about 4-5 years. Went vegan because of it 2 years ago and have been eating about 80-90% raw for the past 2 months or so. Although my skin has improved, it is far from perfect and I am quite insecure because of it. Recently I decided to do some grape fasting (went about 2 days, broke it, then went for about 4.5 days). I finally got fed up when looking in the mirror that I decided I need to do a water fast and be serious about it. I am also interested in seeing what this will do for me mentally and spiritually, but the drive behind this water fast is to nearly or fully eliminate my stubborn acne. I just finished my 50th hour of the water fast, I feel I need to go at least 14 days, and I am aiming for 21 days. I have been avoiding the mirror during the fast as I believe it will only get me down looking at my skin. I just got home, and decided to look in the mirror and my skin has gotten a lot worse (I also have redness around and in the corners of my lips). It's more aggressive than my regular breakouts and is on parts of my body where I am usually or nearly acne-free. Just a few days ago I recall looking at my chest and remarking on how clear it was, and right now it is breaking out. It is odd but I actually embrace this for the most part, as I truly feel I am in the beginning stages of detoxing. Although it has only been 2 days, I think the detoxing had began to start before the water fast because of the grape fasting I did, combined with the 50 hours of water fasting so far. I am drinking spring water (bought in 5 gallon jugs from a spring 3 hours from my city, tested with a ph of 7.95 and an overall great source of natural water, unlike tap or bottled water).

I am hoping for any testimonials from people who have water fasted to clear their acne, I would love to hear your story. Especially in regards to detox breakouts like the one I believe I am having.
If there is anyone currently on a water fast to clear their acne, i'd love to know how it is going!

Thought I should update. I am finishing my 87th hour on this water fast. I definetaly broke out. It seems to have gotten a little bit better but still have plenty of acne of course. My eczema is beginning to flare up a little bit as well, but not too bad. Had a hard time sleeping last night, have been up since 3:30 am, but I am not exhausted. Also got up fast today and nearly passed out. But this is all to be expected. I am beginning to think 21 days will be too much for me, as I have not done a water fast longer than 48 hours before, but I definetally do not want to stop earlier than 14 days. I haven't been too hungry, just a bit, but nothing crazy. Thinking about what food I should break the fast with and I would like to break it with something like watermelon, easily digestible with a high water content. Will update this thread every 36-48 hours or so for anyone who is interested. Would still love to hear the testimonies of others. I think this will significantly help my acne by detoxifying a lot of the built up toxins I have accumulated in my life. I also think my elimination organs have been heavily taxed from my past drug and heavy alcohol abuse. I do think 21 days will be considerably more effective than 14 days, but we will see how far I can get! Cheers.

112 hours (4 days and 16 hours) in. So far I have had highs and lows, but am glad I have kept it up this far. There were a few times where I considered breaking the fast but didn't, and I am glad I didn't. I believe my acne is starting to heal up. I still have plenty of acne, but (especially in terms of texture) it seems to be in a healing state, so I am happy I haven't broken the fast. I miss food and even liquids like coconut or lemon water, but that will just make the fast more rewarding when I break it. Have had some symptoms, especially today, that had me thinking about breaking the fast but I am better now. Like I mentioned with my skin, I believe my body is beginning to heal. I also forgot to note that I have been putting ACV (unpasteurized, unfiltered, organic and with "The Mother") on my face everyday and leaving it on for several hours, although I have tried this before without fasting and seemed to receive no benefit from it (which makes sense seeing as acne comes from within the body). It doesn't really seem to be helping, but I am keeping up with it for now anyway.

Hi, whilst some intermittent fasting can have a positive effect on the body, you are going to be missing out on vital antioxidants and minerals your body needs to calm the acne. I would include at least some foods known to have a net positive impact on acne, even if it is just green veg smoothies, antioxidant or omega 3 rich foods etc. The body needs vitamins A, C, E and selenium to bolster the protective skin barrier. Certainly reducing your Glycemic Index will have a very positive effect though!
