Hello all,
So I have had mild acne for a while , but in the past couple of months my skin has been getting worse, maybe from the fact I moved to Dubai from Canada and the huge climate change. A fellow Canadian I know here told me to start taking MSM pills. I have been taking them for probably a week and a half now so I know that may be to short of time to notice a difference. However recently probably in the last week my problem area (chin) has been breaking out really bad even with taking the MSM.
I am wondering if this is a side effect with taking the MSM, if maybe my skin will get worse before it starts getting better?
I never took MSM supplements, but I use MSM cream topically here and there. It helps a little bit with scarring, but it never helped with active acne.
MSM works great for some people, but if you tend to react to sulphur then it's probably not the right treatment for you. My acne gets worse when I take any type of supplement with sulphur for acne. I'm not sure if there's supposed to be an initial purging stage.
Chin breakouts can be hormonal, but can also be caused by a reaction to things like toothpaste and mouthwast. Also, if the water quality in your area is bad, that can affect the PH of your skin.
