I've suffered from deeply embedded blackheads for over ten years now and no over-the-counter facial scrubs have worked. I went to the doctor, and the doctor essentially said go to a beautician. I went to two places specializing in acne treatments and one said "we recommend Laser Skin Resurfacing, the other said "we recommend salicylic peels". I really don't have a clue which one to go for (and I can really only afford to go for one course of treatments - trying both isn't an option). I want one which will work, and ideally which doesn't have any nasty side effects.
Anyone's experience in or knowledge of this would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Have you tried any prescription topicals? I'd recommend Isotrex/Retin-a. It's topical accutane/retinol and has no systemic effects like oral accutane does. It will reduce blackheads, oil, sebum and is also anti-aging!
Laser resurfacing and peels won't be a long term solution for this kind of thing, in my opinion they're a waste of time. Expensive too.
