Im in my 20s and Ive never really had skin problems, recently I got pink eye and my doctor prescribed me some antibiotic eye drops to get rid of it faster (Ofloxacin). Ive never taken antibiotics before so I didnt know how Id react and since they were just eye drops I thought itd be fine but as soon as I started taking it I started breaking out especially forehead/nose area (I dont usually break out around my nose so that was weird). Another thing I noticed was that the bumps around my nose were small and clustered together and Ive never had acne with that type of texture before. I thought itd go away with time but it started spreading to my cheeks and chin and my skin is also red in those areas which makes it look worse. I read somewhere that sometimes antibiotics can cause acne so I stopped taking them and hoped that my skin was would return to normal but the bumps are stubborn and more than 3 weeks later theyre still here and theres even more than before. I went to a dermatologist but I forgot to mention I recently stopped used antibiotics which I feel is important and thats my mistake. She ended up prescribing me some Benzoyl Peroxide and Clindamycin gel to use every morning to control the overall outbreak. Its been a week and nothing has changed and my acne is looking worse I think? Im wondering if theres anything else I can do to get rid of these bumps and what are some things to NOT do because Ive been wearing makeup to cover the bumps and redness but dont I dont know if that will make it worse. I think it might be fungal acne based on reading other posts and that sometimes antibiotics can cause a fungal acne breakout but Im not sure. Im terms of skin type I have pretty oily skin and its also sensitive so sometimes trying new products will break me out. Please help!

  • cosrx low ph good morning gel cleanser
  • anua heartleaf toner
  • cerave moisturizer (in the tub)

There are many, many variables in life so you don't want to pin it down to antibiotics too fast. It seems like a big stretch that eye drops could cause acne.

So, make sure you're also thinking about what else could have caused it.

And in the meantime, by far my best advice is to do The Regimen until you're completely clear without adding in or taking anything away from it. Then once you're clear, you can add in 1 thing at a time and see if you stay clear.

But...The Regimen will just get you clear. You still want to figure out what caused a sudden onset of acne. Here are some other meds that are better known to cause acne.
