I took accutane 40mg for a couple months about a year and a half ago. My skin and hair are still flaking all the time, as well as my joints cracking. I have tried different things like fish oil, fat foods, milk, etc. Nothing has worked, and I was wondering if there was anything I could take internally to get my sebum levels back to normal? I've heard about things like testosterone, but I don't know if it's safe. Is there anything out there that is safe long term that could help me return to normal.

Side effects of Accutane are sometimes permanent. I took it when I was 20 and I use lip balm several times a day and will need to do that for the rest of my life. My joints were super painful when I was on it too and they have never fully recovered I don't think. That's why Accutane is such a massive decision. It changes your body forever.

I wish I could tell you there was something you could do, but Accutane permanently "dries" out the whole body, including the skin. It permanently reduces sebum production. That's why it works so well for acne, but that's also why it can leave us with permanent side effects. You can't "untake" Accutane, so that's why an answer to your question about what you can do is a little hard.

However, some side effects may gradually improve over time and others may not. It will be interesting to see what happens in your case. If you do come up with a solution, please do share it.
