Hello everyone.

I'm 38 yo and it's been 2 years that I've been struggling with what I think should be a gram-negative folliculutis (see the attached pictures).

I've always had oily skin and suffered from occasional pimples. Then, hoping to get rid of them, I started taking various antiacne oral and topical antibiotics, given by 2 ore 3 dermatologists who visited me in the last 2 years. Although they seemed to work while I was on them, I noticed a sudden worsening of my skin condition as soon as I stopped taking them (especially around my mouth and neck). None of the dermatologists were able to make the right diagnosis and kept giving me antibiotics. The situation was getting worse and while reading on the internet I came across the GNF. I stopped the antibiotics and had a bacterial culture, which showed KLEBSIELLA AEROGENES in my nose (but not in the pustules). Even after this result, the doctor reiterated that there should be no connection with my acne (he thinks it is a common rosacea).

I am very frustrated, could someone please help me with this? Do you think this could be GNF?

According to the culture test, it is sensitive to ciprofloxacin and other antibiotics. Would you suggest that I try another antibiotic treatment with one of these or do you think it might even make my situation worse? Is Isotretinoin/Accutane the only solution?

Thank you very much!

I have to wonder if you are just experiencing bad acne.

3 thoughts:

  1. Have you tried The Regimen? It works anywhere, even on the scalp, and is worth a shot because if you are experiencing acne, it will clear it up without the need for Accutane, which is a serious choice to make with potential life-long consequences.
  2. What is your diet like? I wonder if you went hardcore on carnivore (you can google it) or perhaps less hardcore on keto if that might help things calm down.
  3. Are you on any new medications that might have caused the outbreak? Basically, could you be reacting to a random medication of some kind?
