Can high androgens along with low dht still cause acne and hair loss in males?

Hi everyone,

I am a 31 years old male with a long history of acne. And recently, for the past two years, I started losing my hair as well..I probably got the worst genetics for hair and skin lol.

I would say my acne is somewhat stable but I have to drink a lot of alcohol due to my work nature. So, once in a while, I will grow bumps. But there are also days whereby I did everything right, but I still get acne especially on my chin.

i have been trying to find a cure since I highly suspect all my issues are hormonal. You dont get to experience clear skin at all if its not hormonal.

Recently, I did a blood test for my hormones and I got back these results:

Estradiol (E2): <88pmol/L

Testosterone (Total): 26.1 nmol/L

Free Androgen Index (FAI): 76.76%

SHBG: 34 nmol/L

LH: 2.3IU/L

FSH: 2.2 IU/L

Prolactin: 174 mIU/L

DHT: 0.88 nmol/L

So, the main culprit of my acne and hair loss seems to be my high FAI. But I think my skin and hair is very sensitive to any fluctuations in my male hormone level as I have only started to take spearmint tea 1 cup per day for 3 days and I have started to experience more bumps on my face and even on my thighs. Previously, when I tried Finasteride at 0.25mg a day for over a month, I was getting more bumps on my thigh as well

Sorry for the long story. But based on what I have shared, has anyone gone through the same as me and if so, how did you manage to get it cured?

I am desperately trying to find solutions to solve this hormonal issue along with my skin and hair.

Please advise, thank you

For a male it's so tough. There are no hormonal treatments. Have you tried any dietary changes to get your insulin under control? As a master hormone, maybe that could help since you're looking for a systemic weapon against acne.
