Some background info: I™ve had acne for about 12 years. In October 2020, I went on doxycycline because I had far too many pimples/zits. In December 2021, I changed my medicine to Bactrim. Both have been great in getting rid of the pimples, however I still have this redness/acne marks on my face. I™ve had this on my face forever, and it just won™t go away. What do you all recommend?

thank you for your time and I™m looking forward to hearing your suggestions

I know it may not look like much to some here that are dealing with much worse. But I really hope one day soon my face can get a somewhat even skin tone!

The red marks fade away with time, particularly if you protect them from the sun.

It's super concerning being on oral antibiotics long term though. Never allow that without pushing back strongly. Antibiotics should be used for max 3 months.

I totally understand the long term part of taking antibiotics. Its not something that I want to do. My acne was really bad at the time and just getting it to this point has been almost a miracle for me. I know once I stop taking my medicine, the bad acne will come back, so Im unsure as to what to do next. Topicals dont work well for me

Have you tried the regimen? Topicals never worked for me until I used them correctly.

Long-term antibiotics is a nightmare scenario. Even your teeth can start to pay the price. Bad stuff.

I had a doctor visit a few weeks ago. He said its fine that Im still on antibiotics. I reduced the intake of the Bactrim to once daily instead of twice because of the side effects (diarrhea, stomach nausea) that I was getting.

I cant do benzoyl peroxide. Tried it one time and it was a complete disaster. Pretty sure Im allergic to it

Many people use natural remedies to treat acne scars, but the science behind them is murky. Some may cause additional irritation or other problems, so people should exercise caution when using them.

People have traditionally used the following home remedies to treat acne scars:

coconut oil
shea nut butter
gel aloe vera
unprocessed honey
baking soda
juice of lemons
