Hi All,

I had pathetic past with acne. It all start since the age ~15 years. Today I am about to be 34 and I still have to fight acne, maybe not that severe. Till date I lack the confidence and the first thought that comes to the mind when in public or trying to talk to girl is the disaster acne face and the confidence drops down. Screwed me for life. I wasn't advised currently by the family when I needed help.

Finally, couple years ago I took the isotretinoin treatment and acne is almost gone. Still keep getting one or two in 1-2 months, but fine considering what it was in the past.

Obviously the long battle has left bad scars. Unaware I use to burst open my acne to avoid embarrassment. So, I have got many pits and ice pick scars. Need advise from the community as to which will be the best treatment for my scars. I visited two of the renowned doctors in Mumbai, India and one of them recommended picowave two laser while other said for combination of RF and needling. While a friend of mine, who referred me to this portal, is recommending TCA cross. Totally confused. Need advice

I am not sure which one to go for. It will be greatly helpful if the downtime is less.

TCA is great for icepick, but looks like you may have a lot, so that's interesting that you've also heard laser might be better. It's a matter of judgement. Make sure you get a really good derm or plastic surgeon who specializes in scar revision and get a second and third opinion and only go with who you feel is solid and experienced and for sure best.

Thanks Dan. Based on what all I have read so far, I am feeling confident with TCA cross. When you said I have lot of icepick scars did you mean that it's not possible to do TCA cross for me

Regarding laser, I have visited two of the best dermatologists in Mumbai, India and one of them recommended for picowave2 and other one said RF laser and derma. I am not feeling confident with laser, because I am not able to logically understand how it will help with the scars. TCA cross on the other hand is sounding logical for me

What do you think

I visited a different doctor and got started with the treatment. I am currently given vitamin C tablets, serums and triacneal expert cream to help reduce the marks and improve the over all skin appears. This is going to be for 6 weeks. After, which the doctor is recommending MNRF (micro-needling with RF) - number of sessions will depend on the results.

Punch grafting is the best treatment for ice pick scars, according to a study published in The Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology. The scar is removed and replaced with a skin graft in this treatment (usually from behind your ear).
